From Holmgren, Pronger could have returned to the game but he was held out (precautionary).

So much for a "statement" game.

For someone who had two points, I thought Carter was pretty bad.

If there's any justice, he'll name his twin sons "High" and "Wide"

Mez has to deck that guy there. But he made up for it.
It was painful to watch bob panic with the puck right before the goal.
Still, he was really good tonight overall.

I also give the Isles credit. They have a pretty exciting team to watch with a good amount of young talent.

Giroux is the man

There are no statement games in February when you have a 8 point lead on the conference.

Woulda smashed my computer if we lost this game, but I think this actually shows how far this team has come... in the past this is a game we would have lost, bounces have definately not been going our way lately yet we are still getting the job done..

This.

People are getting a little crazy with this stuff. It is a long season, and instead of losing games as in years past, the Flyers are barely winning them or losing them in OT.

We are in the doldrums of the NHL season right now, and we're "ONLY" winning games by 1 goal. This is not a concern.

2 points is what matters most, but I'm really getting concerned about this team's third period play.

First team to 40 wins. It would be nice to go around 14-7 coming home.

It's frustrating losing against lesser teams at any point. I take solace in knowing this team will elevate their group play come Playoff time and their balance should make them miserable to face in a best of seven.

To be honest, they kind of look bored.

And other than Carolina, what bad team have we lost to?

Last losses were:

PHX
CAR
LAK
TBY
NJD
BOS

... and that's all the losses in 2011.

Also, when your are in 1st, you are gonna get everyones best efforts to beat you night in and night out. There is no "easy games" wich is one of the issues with being in 1st.

I disagree. Each game should be about getting better, about refining systems of attack and defend. What do they do in practice? Why do the coaching staff watch video? It's great that they are "slumping" but still picking up points. But the same errors are being committed repeatedly, and the same defensive lapses are evident game after game, against the strong opponents as well as the weak.

To me, we're not seeing the ups and downs that are part of a normal season: there is a significant and repeated problem with either the game plan or the execution. I've been harping on terrible own-zone puck control, which was better tonight but there were still unforced errors. There were several occasions of the Islanders cycling the puck at will and creating numerous significant chances.

Maybe I'm just jaded at nitpicking on a team who, at present, is first overall in the NHL.

Its just human nature right now, lets face it... I think player on the team knows they are capable of dominating teams if they really push down the pedal with the personnel that they have, they are just mired in a stretch right now where maybe they arent elevated for some of these games. I know its not good to think that they will just turn it on come playoff time but with so many winners and guys that wanna win you just know they are gonna **** around come playoff time. They know whats at stake

Like the announcers said, we are playing a bunch of desperate/nothing to lose type teams. They aren't going to be easy wins.

i wouldnt sweat the fact that the isles took you guys to OT, this is a different isles team, guys are clicking and battling despite mass injuries and are giving opponents a tough time.

anyway, came here to say that claude girouix was impressive!

People need to stop complaining. Every team, and I mean every team, goes to a slump at least once a season. Just be happy the Flyers are still winning.

Thanks for stopping by! Yeah, Claude has probably played organized hockey once or twice before.

I had a chance to grab Moulson in fantasy not long ago. I elected not to, and he's made me pay for it since.

it amazes me how many people harp on this. I dare you to look at the shot leaders over the last few years and tell me what you find. More then likely you will see the same players in the miss category including that Ovechkin guy.

Sitting on top of the standings can do that sometimes. They look unmotivated and disinterested at times. Its obvious there ready for post-season action.

It's just Carter-hate blindness, it's really getting boring and old right now...

They have way too much east west in their game and not enough north south. Every other pass is a rinkwide back hand attempt or a blind drop pass. When they attack with speed, good things happened. Giroux really stands out in games like this, because he's strong on the puck and makes everyone else look like loligagers. Hartnell actually had a really good game as well. He didn't randomly fall down or anything. Carle was not good.
