That's taking it a bit far. Tallinder has been better than he was earlier in the season, but Martin is clearly the superior defenceman.

Tallinder is bigger and a bit faster. Martin seems to have better offensive instincts and is better defensively.

They are both kind of soft too

Tampa's defence is still underwhelming, even after the addition of Brewer. I'm interested to see how they do against us.

The question is if the cost difference of Martin and Tallinder is worth the difference on the ice.

Tallinder is inconsistent for sure. He has had some very interesting gaffes now and then. His puck release has caught my attention, in a bad way, several times too.

Martin was too tentative with the puck. I'll have to watch Tallinder with it and see how he handles pressure coming at him next time.

Tallinder stands up decently well against forechecking pressure because of his mobility. He also sometimes chooses to lead the rush, which most of our other defencemen would never dream of doing, but which I like seeing from him.

The drop off isn't as big as you'd think. I said Martin is the better defenseman, but he's not miles ahead the better d-man.

I believe it was good old Jim (not criticizing you, just poking some fun) that said Martin would be a 40/50 point Norris nominated defenseman in Pitts system.

Not saying I didn't want the guy back, but it seems players who go to the Penguins always bring some type of lofty point/play projections.

It seems like Tallinder would agree with Kovy that Lemaire is may-gic.

My favorite was them saying Comrie would be a 50 goal man beside Crosby . I said guys only become good after leaving Pittsburgh and post insane numbers at which point I posted a picture of Jose Bautista in a Pirates jersey. Of course, some Pens moderator took offense and gave me a petty infraction. Sensitive Sally.

Crosby never makes his linemates better, as many a frustrated fantasy owner will tell you.

Because his linemates are pretty terrible in general

I don't think Jesus could make Dupuis any better than he is.

Basically, we need at worst 90 points to make the playoffs. Here are the scenarios that will get us 90 points.

17-5-0 (43-35-4 overall)
16-4-2 (42-34-6 overall)
15-3-4 (41-33-8 overall)
14-2-6 (40-32-10 overall)
13-1-8 (39-31-12 overall)
12-0-10 (38-30-14 overall)

My point. Aim for a points total rather than worry about all of the teams in front of you. There's still too many teams ahead of us to scoreboard watch.

You must've noticed that in December it too like till the 2nd period for a GDT to have 100 posts.
