To

Christopher Higgins (47GP-11G-11A-22P)

To

Conditional 3rd rounder (condition being that Higgins re-signs; if he doesn't, it's a 4th in 2012. Does; 3rd rounder 2012)

Fair? Not fair?

Pens don't have a 4th rounder this year.

Oh.

Would a 3rd straight up be good?

Pens have no 3rd this year either.

It could happen if it's next years conditional 3rd/4th. Shero didn't sound like he was interested in trading more picks though, but you never know. I could see him trading a long shot prospect, but I have no idea who Tallon would have his eye on. Tallon might not even like any of the Pens long shot prospects. Regardless, Higgins to the Pens makes sense to me. I'm just not sure the Pens have something that they'd realistically part with that would also interest Tallon.

Ive wanted Higgins weeks before the Frolik trade. 20+ goal scorrer, defensivly responsible, manageable cap hit, UFA at seasons end. Good for second line duty but purely a rental only.

Not interested in Higgins. He lost his game years ago somewhere in Montreal.

Pens don't have a 3rd or 4th in 2011.

Don't think Shero is interested in anymore forwards. He's probably looking for a veteran 5/6 defenseman though.

I could see us part with a conditional 4th rounder in 2012 for him. Here's the problem though, if he stays on LW he's gonna be on the third line. I don't subscribe to the idea that a player can play any forward position if he's use to a particular one. Maybe he's played some RW but if not he's gonna likely play with a Letestu or Jeffrey. That's not the end of the world but can he be productive in a 3rd line role? Particularly now that we have Neal and Kovy in the top six?

You mean 4th line. He has Neal, Kunitz, and Cooke ahead of him on the LW.

Yeah, I thought about that after posting it. With all those guys ahead of him it'd make more sense to look elsewhere.

Too much from my POV.

Frankly I'm fine with our forward crew unless its something for the long-term...which I don't think Higgins would be. We have our Guerin, this isn't the year we give up our future for rentals..not when we're lacking 3rd and 4th rounders going into things.

A middling prospect? That's a different story. We have an excess of those coming up, but little in terms of top six talent.
