Just think, a couple years ago he signed an offer sheet from St. Louis.

Always thought he was going to be great...guess I was wrong.

That was only done so the Blues could screw over the Canucks, who signed David Backes to an offer sheet. Vancouver had just traded for Bernier's rights, and the Blues signed him to a contract where the compensation would have been less than what the Canucks gave up for him. The Blues knew he was never going to play for them.

You could field a pretty decent expansion team with waiver wire scraps this season...I know I am missing some players but...

G - Nabokov
G - M. Smith
G - Leighton
G - Emery

D - Souray
D - Redden
D - Rivet
D - Finger
D - Lee

F - Grabner
F - Zherdev
F - Moureau
F - Hagman
F - Svatos
F - Rolston
F - Bernier

Hahaha...it's true.

I'd like to see Ottawa pick up Bernier and take a chance on him. We're hurting for bodies right now and even though he never realized his potential there's a chance he still could. Again, it's a free body that could have potential upside. The worst that could happen is he sucks and we dump him. It's not a risk to try him out.

haha, that team of waiver cast-offs would cost more money than florida.

i'm not saying this to rub it in but update for florida fans: oreskovich was great last night and has slowly been improving and making a case for himself since his call-up. he certainly doesn't make or break this deal but, unlike grabner or bernier, he isn't nothing.

Did Rivet ever go on waivers yesterday? Or did LeBrun just say the Sabres WILL put him on re-entry without specifying a time?

How on earth did Bernier clear? I guess he's been fairly miserable this year, but he's pretty much made for the playoffs and has stepped it up for the post-season before...

Absolutely nobody felt they could burn the cap space on a 'almost-skilled' forward with size to burn? None of the building teams felt like bringing in a big vet body for free? Weird man, really weird.

Pretty amazed by how far he fell off so quickly.

He didn't step up in the playoffs for Vancouver. His hitting was non existent as was his scoring. Dude seems to have confidence issues, he is a very streaky player. At least in his first year in Vancouver there was some good in his streakiness, but his 2nd year with us was just miserable.

Obviously not a playoff team, but that would win a few games.

I was kind of hoping the Flames would take a swing at Bernier... If it's true that Feaster is looking for a top 9 forward, well there it is... Maybe on re-entry?

Oreskovich, at best, becomes Bernier's worst.
We all liked Big O down here when he was first called up; he hit everything in sight, and played with lots of passion. Then, he became invisible. He also has no hands.

He'll never be anything more than a 4th line player, if he even sticks around in the NHL.

Bernier is beyond awful. Size and talent can get you to the NHL rather easily and he's proof. One of the laziest players ever to play in the league. He's been overweight what, 5 years in a row now?

Yea I couldn't believe when I saw that at On The Fly.

Still the guy has fallen so much. From a supposed power forward with the Sharks that was seen as a futur top talent and then having a great hyped debut on the Sabres...to becoming a third/fourth line grinder on the Canucks. To not even being able to crack the Panthers line-up.
