Not a shot in hell this happens. Kings have no reason to acquire another center unless it's a rental and includes on of our current rostered centers going the other way. Plus, if we are trading for someone with a monster contract, it's going to be someone who is actually in the prime of their career and not past it. This trade just doesn't make sense on any level for the Kings
So if he was waived for a trade can we make that trade now if Dean wanted to or do we have to wait to see what happends with Sturm? Can you put a player on waivers and take him off the active roster immediately or do you have to wait?
So if we were gonna make a trade, it couldn't be completed till tomorrow at noon when Sturm is off waivers, right?
Or could Dean just make the move any minute now?
I'm tired and was gonna go to bed before this whole waiver thing.
I don't think we can do anything until Noon tomorrow. Teams have until Noon EST tomorrow to submit claims. Even if someone submits a claim, that claim can't be accepted until Noon EST because other teams may want to put in a claim and have until that time to do so.
Come Noon EST tomorrow, he'll either clear and be assigned to Manchester, or have been claimed and gone elsewhere in the NHL. At that point, the roster spot would be available.
Go to bed, get some sleep, and dream of something crazy-awesome happening.
EDIT: At least we can't make anything official until tomorrow. I don't think anything is stopping DL from announcing a trade will occur once the roster spot officially opens up.
He doesn't really have to send Sturm down if he clears. Rather than call around for a deal just stick him on waivers and see if somebody's interested. But I would expect that Sturm would have to go if we picked up another LW anyway.
Eh don't get your hope up. He just opened up a roster spot for one of our prospects. I think....
Of course, Sturm could clear waivers and then stay on the Kings. Clearing waivers just gives DL the freedom to send him to Manchester is he clears. Could happen tomorrow. Might not happen 'til Monday if/when a deal is made. Might not happen at all.
