I'm embarrassed. Rangers fans writing things like "Staal wouldn't have his head down if it was something he expected his brother to do" and "I would understand if it's something they do to each other all the time, but out of the blue, why would he be expecting it".

You realize that Staal shouldn't have his head down even if it's Ghandi standing 5 feet away? That Eric shouldn't play any differently just because his brother has the puck, nor should Marc in the opposite situation? That you trying to say that there should be ANY kind of difference in the way either player does ANYTHING, because they're brothers, is absolutely ridiculous?

Any player in Marc's position was going to get clocked by Eric on that play. End of the story.

I'm told Marc Staal was on flight to D.C., seemed to be walking fine
I hope he is okay, he means about as much to this team as Hank does. He definitely tweaked his leg early in the game, however smacking your head on the ice should at least give you a pretty bad headache. I am not sure I buy the coverup theory, as much as we want Staal to play I can't imagine they are going to risk this kid getting seriously hurt.

Haha, It just seemed like he was doing it a bit too much to be scratching. Who really knows though? We will find out whenever he's back.

Thank you. It's hockey, you're going to get hit. Number one rule in hockey is to keep your ****ing head up otherwise you're going to get clocked and Marc found out in a big way.

I don't know about a conspiracy but if Sather was trying to trade for a vet d man and the other GM's in the league knew Staal had a concussion instead of a 'twisted' knee, the price of that d man would probably go up.

Maybe I'm just being optimistic, but it's possible that he is only sitting out to be cautious. We really need him down the stretch.

He's sitting out because he's hurt and he's one of the only guys on the team who doesn't need to practice.

I still think that one was more accidental than intentional, and it was a head to head hit. Orr was cut and bleeding from Cullen's helmet

Staal said he talked to Eric briefly after the game, but hasn't talked to mom yet. Just text messages until she cools down

I agree that it was a good hit, but Ghandi wouldn't have hit him.

Mom is hot under the collar. Not nice to mess with one of Mom's babies!

Yeah, I might just have to watch the Knicks game instead because Washington is going to run wild more likely than not.

This shows how important Staal is to the team.

This team performs when their back is against the wall. Staal wasn't there for the 3rd period. Even though we gave up 2 goals, we battled and held the Canes off. I know Washington is better, but we're gonna see where Gilroy, MDZ and Eminger stand after this game if Staal does not play. Surely things can change tomorrow, but if they don't, expect DZ to get a big up-tick in minutes as the only other LD on our line.

McD-Girardi
MDZ-Sauer
Gilroy-Eminger

I'm optimistic and say we'll be fine with this for a game, anything more and there might be problems.

Gotta be honest and say I really couldn't do that to my bro... One hit can change a lot for a player. We've seen plenty of examples.
I also got the same impression. Plus, Marc had his head down looking at the puck, he could and should have eased up, but it looked like he went all out. Wonder how he would feel if he caused his brother a concussion. The hit was legal, but barely.

I'm sure Momma Staal was none to happy.

Marc Staal talking to Gross about hit by brother.

Marc Staal also says hit by Eric Staal was the hardest he's ever received, including growing up with Eric, Jordan and Jared.

Marc Staal upset Rangers don't face Hurricanes again in regular season. Says hit by brother took their rivalry "to a whole other level."

Im fine with clean hits than, but i sure as hell expect the Rangers to not hesitate to finish their checks against Eric the next game they play eachother, whenever that is. I dont get it, if this was Gaborik there would be fights the rest of the game, with Stall nothing happens.

Love the mindset, say bye bye to scoring vs NY Eric, getting shut down, and getting hit every chance they get.

Seems that Eric has brought his level of intensity against Marc to new heights this season. Several of the hits were at least borderline in my opinion.

Unfortunately, this is a "knee" because the NHL gets a say in the matter when it turns in to a "head".

Edit: unfortunate because I feel his well being should come first.
