LIES!
The precedent is there of Lombardi lying to Hammond
I found it curious that Bob and Jim went out of their way to talk about Brad Richards for several minutes on the post game show last night when talking about whether or not the Kings would make a deadline move - and didn't bother mentioning any other option.
Richards is skating again.
Nick Nickson kept gushing about Richards as well on Kings talk.
Why does everyone want Brad Richards lol? Can he even play on the wing? I thought we all agreed that our biggest need is a top 6 WINGER, not another center. Brayden Schenn is our future #2 center, not Brad Richards

Speaking of Nickson, I listened to him on the way home from the game last night and his opinion of Lokti was that he didn't necessarily have the strength yet to endure the punishing stretch run to the playoffs.
If that opinion was formed directly from his conversations with Kings brass then factor that into the theory that Sturm is being waived to clear a roster spot for a Lokti call-up.
As for Hammond, he's good for what's happened with the Kings, not so much for what's happening.....

Yes, he can play left wing and he mans the point on the power play. Without the concussion and signed to an extension I'd be ecstatic. The way he is right now scares the crap out of me.

I should take that stuff with a grain of salt, but I don't. Bob and Jim (and Nick) don't accidentally do or say anything. They're all paid by the Kings. I remember when the Kings were downright awful for a stretch in 2006 and Bob had an on-air rant like we'd never heard before. Murray was fired before the next game.
That said, I could also see the explanation for this being only that Sturm wasn't fitting in and they decided now is as good of a time as any to cut bait - no trade being part of this move at all.
We'll see.

This could be something as simple as the Kings deciding to go with Loktionov as a top 6 for the rest of the year, and giving Marco an opportunity to catch on with another team where he can play back into shape. We need scoring, and with the west how it is only a couple teams could really afford to let a player work back into shape. If he doesn't get claimed, he can get some work in the AHL. This move may simply be an opportunity to help Marco to get ready for next year wherever he may end up. Remember, DL is familiar with him, and seems like the kind of person who would do that for one of his guys.
Or, it could be the precursor to a trade to fill that glaring top-6 wing hole. Hey, at least we'll know within the next few days.

Yes he can play wing....
Who better to mentor schenn than a great vet like Richards.
I don't see it happening , but I've always been a proponent of getting Richards.
I swear Helene Elliott is legitimately technologically retarded, she always tweets random **** like

he is now past 20 and has played more than 40 nhl games.
I don't know who she's talking about, or if she means to DM this to someone, but it's so annoying, she's so old. The LA Times needs some new blood, not an old ***** who covers both Kings & Ducks
The Los Angeles Kings raised eyebrows Friday when they put Marco Sturm on waivers, prompting many to believe perhaps cap space was being cleared for an imminent trade.
Not so. Not yet, anyway.
"This is strictly for roster flexibility at the deadline," Kings GM Dean Lombardi told ESPN.com on Friday.

He was playing LW for the Stars before his injury.
If we can get Richards without having to give up Schenn, then I'm all for it.

As I reported earlier this week, the Kings have interest in Brad Richards, Ales Hemsky and David Booth. Other NHL sources confirm the Kings have had talks this week with all three teams. At this point, Richards does not sound like it has much of a chance, so it would appear either Booth or Hemsky are the best bets.
