Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #63 @ Washington Capitals

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy

The Alexander Frolov Memorial Trophy is awarded to the player who most exemplifies the qualities that Alex brought to the ice game in and game out. Most notable was his talent for wraparounds. Thusly, this award is given to the player who has the most wraparound attempts throughout the game.

The award tonight goes to Brandon Dubinsky, with 1 wraparound attempt against Washington.

Christ has been reborn! Hope he can sustain it till the end. Or that it makes his trade value really go up.

Love how Christensen happens to show up the one day 2 Stars scouts are at the game.
Anyways, he played great tonight, definitely showed flashes of last season.

I'm also a bit irritated how the team puts up great wins without Gabby in the lineup. I really don't get it. Watch, when Gabby returns were most likely getting shutout that game or another 1 goal loss along the lines of a 1-2 or a 2-3

POTG: I gave the vote to Henrik, but it's a split between him and Christensen.

The Good: Everything? Even the powerplay managed to look good.

The Bad: Stepan possibly getting suspended, Feds hurt again? Zuccarello looks snakebitten.

The Redden: Not being able to play consistently like this. Prove me wrong.

I don't know who needed this win more, the Rangers or the fans. It's about time they dominated a win, and the scoreboard reflected it. I have nothing to whine about tonight.

I have to think of PotG for a bit. Way too many outstanding games.

Alex Frolov Memorial Trophy went to Brandon Dubinsky.

Awards:
Christensen was the offensive catalyst. He had a terrific game.

However, when your goalie makes 35 saves, many of them toughies, he's the POTG. Maybe it's the former goalie in me, who knows.

POTG: My man EC. I've never hated him actually, I'm glad to see him do well.

The Good:Where to begin? That was the most beautiful, incredible, crispiest, most out ****ing standing effort of the year. This game deserves a statue in it's honor. I played Boyle, Prust, Zuc, and Hank tonight, so even my fantasy team made a killing. Overall, my best night all season. I was actually doing this in front of the tv when the game ended-

The Bad:The Knicks effort against the Cavs. I have to go with that, cause the Rangers have given me nothing tonight in this category, absolutely nothing.

The Redden: The sun comes up in about 8 hours. I'd like to enjoy tonight for longer than that. What a sparkling effort. Kinda gives you that warm fuzzy feeling.

This was their most convincing win in awhile. The first time in a long time where everyone looked good. The defense played tremendously without Staal.

Great game for EC, but I fear this is one of his monthly games where he plays well but will disappear again.

Eminger has earned himself a spot in the lineup when Staal comes back, at the expense of either Gilroy or DZ. He was physical and the goal in the first was just gravy.

Hank was great, obviously. He was really in the zone tonight.

Great win. So happy.

Only saw the 3rd but we looked like a force tonight. EC went into his beast mode, Step channeled his inner Messier, Boyle gets his 20th of the season, Hank gets the shut out....

Great game. That's all that can be said.
