What a day for Nashville hockey. Geoffrion will be the greatest PR weapon this city has ever seen.

Blake Geoffrion, the first TN-born professional hockey player.

I like it.

Blake was actually born in FL. He is the first Middle Tennessee raised NHL player...

Not to rain on the parade but we do run the danger of stocking the team with players that are hard to dump-- I'm working on a catchy name for a Tootoo-Fisher-Geoffrion line. Current top 10 list:

10. The "untouchables line"
9. The "PR machine" line
8. The "stop blowing those $%&^@# whistles" line
7./6. The "don't even think about telling us what to do" line (aka the "take your neck and shove it" line)
5. The "can you believe Erat and Legwand got NTC/NMC's?" line
4. The "stop staring at my $%^## wife" line
3. The "Poile's our ***** now" line
2. The "G-F(you)-Too" line
1. __________________ (Anyone?)

Please don't rain on my parade by discussing the fact that the line has two centers and a human bowling ball.

Fashion line?

Power line?

Line of questioning?

In honor of his family history Blake was presented with the No. 5 jersey at his signing. The number has been reserved for him since Zanon left in free agency.

Nice, I'm thinking we see him between Halischuck and Tootoo/Dumont- whichever one isn't scratched.

I don't think this is good to bring up Geoffrion as he was just getting used to the AHL. Why break up that flow and learning?

He strikes me as the type of player that needs to adjust to the level for a while before really excelling. Doesn't sound like someone you want during the playoff push.

Anyway, still exciting given the local factor. Hope he does well.

I feel like this is temporary though.

Good, with Halischuk, Geoffrion and Blum we'll at least have some ENERGY.

The team has only won one of five since Halischuk was sent down, 1-3-1, we were 5-5-1 in his games with the team.

I would think its obvious geoffrion is here as a waiver exempt placeholder. The deal poile is working on will obviously take the weekend to get done. But belak had to be waived in case they needed an extra roster spot before monday.

Someone is coming by Monday. Nothing else makes sense

I agree that this seems to make sense. but I am excited to see Geoffrion tomorrow...

It likely is. That said, sometimes temporary AHL callups have a way of sticking. Up here, for example, we've been ridiculously lucky with Matt Calvert and Grant Clitsome, and last year Derek MacKenzie forced his way onto the roster as well.

I dunno if BG is ready to do the same, but given how well he's doing in the AHL, who knows?

Either DP is working a deal or just having the roster ready in case he can make one.

So now that we know Poile and Co. are staying with the youngsters for the remainder of the season, what do you think of Geoffrion's first 2 games?

He seemed in slow motion to me. Like he was trying to read the ice, not really sure where to be. And by the time he made a decision he was a step late. Was he just being overly cautious, not wanting to commit from fear of being caught behind the play? He really doesn't seem to move his feet very well.

I agree but remember the one thing he's shown so far in his career and that is it takes a little time for him to get comfortable and then he continues to get better. It's happened everywhere he's been. (Remember how some wanted to give up on him in his early years in college?)
