Slowing down the stepan hit fram by frame it almost looks like green just ran into Stepan arm pit. There definatly doesnt apear to be any initial contact with the elbow. Not to mention how low green's head is.
Definition of SNAKEBIT
: having or experiencing failure or bad luck : unlucky (source: Merriam-Webster)
I would say his game was very much the oposite of that, he played well, made good passes, and were on the ice for 3 goals. Yes, he did have a some shots, but Zucca was always a playmaker first, scorer second.
In my opinion,Zucca is playing well. But I have too agree,he is snakebitten. He had deserved more points. He has been unlucky.
Do you think he was the player of the game? He played pretty well...but I didn't see him dominate.
Yes, I do think he was player of the game, well along with Sauer. He absolutely dominated Backstrom in the low slot on 2 separate PK's, and flattened his stick to the ice that broke up what easily would've been a slam dunk pass from below the goal line to Semin in front.
Aside from his work against the top line, he also manned up hard on Laich which caused a turnover that the NYR immediately there-after moved the puck up the ice and led to the Stepan goal.
AA would be a very imposing forward if he can bulk up over the Summer . He gets pushed off the puck very easily . 15 lbs of bulk could make him a much tougher guy to play against . There were times last night where he could have used that strength...hopefully the club and him work on that if he is in the plans to stay here .
BTW...I enjoyed the game very much by the Rangers . The PP certainly helped...makes one wonder what kind of team we would have if our PP rate was in top 6 . Those extra goals help . Good game by EC and a great game by Hank...as there was a lot of time spent in our zone . It was nice to see Stepan get angry . I also thought our D played great considering how experienced they are not against a team that has big forwards .
Caps...have some big holes on the back end even with Green in the game and a good fore checking club will expose that most times...short run in the real season for them IMO .
I was going to pickup my GF for dinner (she lives in Northern Westchester, I live in Queens), so I listened to the 1st period on the radio. 970am went out pretty much after I left the Bronx, so I searched for another station that might have the game. I found 1500am, which is some caps station. For some weird reason, the signal must bounce off the ionosphere and be able to be picked up in the area. It sounds funny, but I travel alot, and I've gotten Albany radio stations in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia.
Anyway, I'm listening to the caps radio broadcast going through Westchester. In the 1st period alone, they must have mentioned that STEPAN elbowed Green about 10 times just in the half an hour or so I was listening. They weren't really complaining about it, but the way they were pounding it over and over, you would have thought it was a very dirty elbow.
We got to the restaurant in White Plains and I was able to get them to put the game on and caught the end of the 2nd and all of the 3rd period. They showed replays and I really didn't think it was that bad. It was a retribution hit for sure, but I'm pretty sure Stepan just wanted to plant Green on his ass as he was coming in for the puck, not headshot him.
I can't tell you how many times I saw Forsberg pull the same exact move back in the day.
Edit: Also, just want to make it clear that I made the Forsberg comment BEFORE I listened to Torts postgame lol! I was not ripping him off!
1500 AM is a clear-channel signal. It can be picked up basically from Maine to Miami.
Same thing with the station from Albany (I can get it here in Charlotte, NC)
I can also pick up WFAN, WOR, WABC, and WCBS fairly clearly on most nights in my car.
Girardi was OK tonight. I think the whole defense as a six played very well though. Covered for each other and cleared the crease well. It's funny how this team seems to play better when its best players are injured.
I think it is because when the best is in, relaxes the second best and think that Staal and Gaborik takes care of big game Must sit in the heads of the players?
