'Legit' Rumours Thread (TSN, RDS, ESPN etc..)

Only rumours from official news outlets or sports networks in here.

Keep the thread on topic. We're not here to discuss what the mods have decided. We've put a lot of thought and a lot of effort into trying to get you guys a way to talk about anything regarding deadline rumors in an organized manner. Please help us out by putting posts where they need to be.

Please post links to twitter posts. Everything except things heard on the radio need to be linked. Anything not linked will be deleted. We will be very strict on spam posts.

Warnings and infractions if people can't figure it out.

There's a gap in the $ in the Phillips-Sens negotiation. Discussions will continue today. Phillips needs to see options before waiving.
Looks like Phillips may waive if they can't get the $s down.

I hate when people complain that we don't make moves at deadline etc. They act as though T-deadline is some form of entertainment. I know it's advertised as such, but it's not, it's a chance to try and improve your team. The key word is try. It takes two teams to make a trade and sometimes it's not worth it.

In the last week we've acquired Mara and Sopel. We also got Wisniewski which was a great trade and probably would have been more expensive nearer to the deadline, especially when you look at what some other guys have gone for.

I wouldn't call RDS legit, but hey. Good call on making two threads.

Bobby Mac said yesterday the Kings are looking at David Booth - a guy who should be our number one target if Stastsny doesn't happen. Imposing winger who can score, isn't' that what we've been lacking all these years?

I agree. I've been pushing for Booth for a good month now. I think Booth is the Kings' plan if they can't acquire Hemsky.

Booth would really fit the system with his speed and hardwork. His size and board work is a bonus, but a needed one.

I'd much prefer getting players that fit Martin's style than just getting anyone ala Penner because they just won't get along with Martin imo and it becomes a useless trade.

I think it's a bit concerning that we'd be narrowing our possible trade targets just because they won't get along with Martin. Not saying you're wrong or anything, but just food for thought.

Booth would definitely fill that void, and on top of it all, he has that killer instinct much like Cammy has when he's on.

You'd go for booth given his injury history? How much would you be willing to give?

I'd probably be willing to give up our 1st along with a good prospect. Not sure how much it would take to get him though, maybe I'm selling him short.

Not sure I'd give up that much for a guy that suffered such a big injury last year and doesn't seem like his oldself anymore.
31pts only this year, that isn't much. I'd be willing to bet he'll be back stronger next year, I actually don't doubt it, but I wouldn't give up a 1st + good prospect for him.

If this thread is going to be useful maybe all the rumors should be posted in the original post so we dont have to wade through a mass of responses? As long as you just post the gist of the rumor and a link the OP wont get too cluttered.

Yup I'd be willing to take a chance despite his injury history, he's a really good hockey player who's talents are not being exploited in the slightest in Florida. I really do think he can be a 70 point hockey player consistently. He has blazing speed and is such a work horse. He's actually pretty good in all three zones.

As for how much I'd be willing to give, that's the tough part as I know he'll be expensive.

I just really want Booth, he'd be a fan favorite here that's for sure. His board work is great.

Not at all. Every team in the league must take coach-fit, team-fit, chemistry-fit, culture-fit into consideration when making a trade. To make this something exceptional in the case of Martin is disingenuous.

I think he did.

He did say that he was "confident" that it would get done, so I'm sure he's talking to someone within the organization. So we'll see but for right now, no trade from Florida (per Dreger)

Panthers source says nothing on McCabe trade. However, Rangers keenly interested and McCabe won't hold up a deal.

LOL Kyper definitely BBM'ed Corey Masisak asking him to help him out.

Kind of strange for NHL.com to involve itself in rumours, no?

I think the McCabe to New York rumors are coming to fruition.

@TSNBobMcKenzie
Hearing FLA trades McCabe to NYR for Tim Kennedy and 3rd rd pic.

http://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie/st...83124710309888

Kyper will rage when he fins out McKenzie broke the trade.

EDIT: Yep. McCabe goes to NYR (lucky guy, gets to eat at Tír na nÓg whenever he wants; shepherd's pie soaked in Guinness - best meal ever).

@DarrenDreger

Mccabe for Kennedy and a 3rd. Confirmed
