I reckon Gus is going back down after the game

I'm pretty sure it isn't a cap issue, it is a # of contracts issue.

Now did they but Bartulis on IR yet?

Thanks. Appears as if this is the case. Well, it sucks to be the youngest guy on the team (I only had to pick pucks after practice though).

Roster numbers it seems like, as betts and Pronger both hurt

Does JvR actually have to make the trip to the farm, or doe she just stay behind in Philly?

Holmgren will probably fly him there with a layover in Kandahar.

I think JVR needs to stay home. I dont think he can be in the building or pressbox, but I could be wrong about that.
Dammit why couldnt someone claim that lazy russian ****.

He has to physically report to the Phantoms.

People should really read the thread and understand the situation before freaking out and face palm this face palm that.

Holmgren added a better 7th d-man then we had, without giving anyone up. Because Pronger is injured and Gustovsson got called up there is one extra guy on the roster, so when Boynton was added off waivers someone had to move in order to accomodate him.

Everyone has to clear waivers except JVR. Do you risk someone claiming Carcillo, Nodl etc or do you send the safest bet down?

If pronger wasnt injured there wouldnt be an issue because Gustovsson would still be down.

My guess is that Gustovsson goes down after tonights game, JVR back up.

Is it really that big a deal? My guess is JVR wouldn't be the game breaker tonight!

LOL at the cap guru face-palms.

This isn't cap-related.

You guys will jump on Holmgren for anything, no matter how insignificant it is nor how mistaken you are.

They are home, so just a quick trip from Ottawa to Glens Falls, then can go to Philly tomorrow when he's called back up.

Hm... that is debatable. Carcillo has been terrible this season. Dont know if anyone would pick him up lol. That being said, I think you are misunderstanding what some of us are saying in this thread. We just feel bad for JVR, who has been playing pretty well, to make room for an average to below average 7th d-man

That really sucks. I would have thought he could just sit in the pressbox tonight.

Is there a deadline as to when he has to report, how immediate after his assignment? For example, can he just stay with the team for tonights game, fly out tomorrow, or is this an immediate thing?

Homer is dumb.

JvR was beginning to gain confidence and heat up, and now he has to miss a game? This blows.

So he shouldn't have put a claim in on Boynton? Is that what you are saying?

whos gonna know if hes going to be there or not? all the Phantoms need to do is announce him as a healthy scratch. I mean are people really keeping track to see if hes there in the building in Glens Falls?

Yes, the NHL does keep track of such things, and the Flyers could get hammered for circumvention if they don't follow the rules.

Glens Falls sounds like a lovely place. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glens_Falls,_New_York

I've been critical of some of Holmgren's doings in the past, but I don't see how you can fault him for this. It's better to have JvR off the team for one game than give up Carcillo or Nödl to waivers for no reason. In fact, if he'd done something like this with Giroux a couple of years ago (though it was for more than one game), the Upshall and a 2nd for Carcillo trade might have been avoided.
