Boynton has been pretty bad for a couple of seasons now, but we're looking to add some insurance depth, not a regular starter and then he fits pretty well: low salary and can step in and play 10-14 minutes if needed.
I say no to Commodore on that contract as well. Hejda won't come here (and we don't really need him). Liles is better than Carle offensively, but he's probably worse defensively, so no thanks to that as well. We'd most likely have to be the ones adding as well.
Add me to the list of posters that wants another depth d-man as long as it doesnt take a player off the roster.
I just hate seeing these late season injuries as they can linger into the post season. Add to that, that our most important defenders are a bit older makes them more susceptible to injury to begin with.
A player like Rivet on re-entry would be nice, how much Cap space do we have?
I also wouldnt mind seeing another 4th liner added to the mix. Someone that is an energy player and could potentially play with Richards and Versteeg.
With Zherdev waived I do not like that one injury means both Carcillo and Shelley are in for the post season.
I'm sure someone can be had for cheap with a very low cap hit.
One has to also wonder, that with Bart out for the remainder of the year, will the Flyers bring Walker up as the depth d-man for the playoffs, and was that the plan all along? Is it even possible to bring him up once the playoffs start? I'm not sure on all the rules regarding waivers/re-entry waivers and playoff cap etc.
