does it worry anyone else that not a single other guy on that list has done anything in the NHL?

none of those guys were 20 years old when they did it.

i think it is unheard of for a 20 year old SEL prospect to do this

Thats because they were all career SEL players by the time they put up those points...

1. David Petrasek (D) 2009-2010 HV71 52 15 38 53
born 1976-02-01 so he was 34 the season he did this.
2. Janne Niskala (D) 2006-2007 Färjestad 53 19 30 49
born 1981-09-22 or 25, fairly young actually
3. Magnus Johansson (D)2009-2010Linköping 52 8 41 49
born 1973-09-04 or 37 at the time
4. Johan Åkerman (D) 2006-2007 HV71 55 10 38 48
born 1972-11-20 or 34
5. Pär Djoos (D) 1998-1999 Brynäs 50 5 43 48
born 1968-05-11 or 30
6. David Rundblad (D) 2010-2011 Skellefteå 52 11 36 47
born 1990-10-08 20 years old

Now I am going to go look up Niskala and see why he never came over....

Yup, never been done. He was also basically NHL ready this year and didn't get a chance to try out, if the Sens had room, this season would have never happened for Rundblad. Chances are this is just an indication that Forsberg wasn't off base when he said Rundblad could be competing for ice time with Karlsson and Rundblad back in November. And really, when in the couple years we've known Anders Forsberg has he been proven to be wrong.

Like I've said, expect a transition, expect some growing pains in the defensive zone....but he's probably got he skills and the upside in skill to be an impact offensive player...just has to to learn it. Could take weeks...could take half a year, or longer.

No, because it doesn't matter. Don't mean to sound like a Debbie Downer, but it makes no difference. At this point, all I care about is how he plays next year, how he adjusts.

So I looked up Janne Niskala and the year after he put up that record season, the best season by a SEL D-man ever at the time he came over to north america where he had 44 pts in 80 AHL games. The next year he played 6 games for Tampa Bay getting 3 pts and then was a healthy scratch the next 4 games so he asked to be waived, no one claimed him so he went back to Sweden.

Just make sure you aren't the guy 2 weeks into his rookie season after a brutal giveaway resulting in a GWG against saying "I told ya so". An adjustment period is to be expected, I'd be surprised if there weren't some ugly moments.

Don't worry, I won't be like the people calling the trade "another steal by Murray" before either have played in the NHL. Not expecting his transition to be as smooth as Karlsson's.

really. Because I remember a lot of people around here thinking Karlsson would take quite a while. Too small, not heavy enough to handle all those 6'3" 230 lbs forwards pounding him into the boards, yada yada yada. And yet he did it in less than a year. and by all accounts, Forsberg seems to think he will be at least as good. So I would expect his transition to be just as smooth if not smoother than Karlsson's if I had to guess.

8 games left for his team and he's 8 points away from 100. Could be the first Senators prospect to score 100 points in the CHL since Spezza.

To be fair, Ottawa hasn't drafted a lot of talent from the CHL in the past 8 or so years. Its a tough thing to do when drafting in the bottom half of the 1st round.

Speaking of 100 point CHL players, I'm really hoping Ottawa manages to get home town kid Jason Akeson under contract. His game is impressive. The only thing holding him back is size and at 5'10, its not like he's a complete midget out there as a forward in the NHL.

I think he signed with Philly today.

Edit: Seems like I must have been seeing things.

tyler donati, though he was just an AHL/ECHL signing iirc.

as for akeson, i doubt he signs before the NHL season is over. Kitchener is in the playoffs, which should keep him occupied until the first week of april.

Maybe he could sign if kitchener is eliminated in the first or second round and join bingo for the playoffs.

It doesn't matter when he signs though. Unless you're just referring to him staying focussed on just playing and not worrying about NHL interest.

They are career SEL-players, at the peak of their careers. Another way to look at it.

David Rundblad 47 (and counting)
Nicklas Lidström (20 years old in SEL) 25 points
Mattias Öhlund (at 20) 16 points
Tobias Enström (20) 14 points
Kim Johnsson (20) 13 points
Niklas Kronwall (20) 10 points
Henrik tallinder (20) 2 points

I expect he's the only one to be the go-to-guy on his team's powerplay. Thanks Anders Forsberg. Although I doubt still any of those guys would have put up the same numbers even with Rundblad's PP Ice time...it's worth noting that fairly obviously all of them had lower numbers because they weren't 1st unit PP guys. That said, they probably weren't up to the challenge offensively yet and their respective teams had better PP Dmen....apparently 2nd place Skelleftea does not....or anyone in the league for that matter.

Mark Stone since January began:

24 games played::
16 goals
31 assists
47 points
+18

Probably the hottest player in the WHL since Christmas.
