Hemsky + Penner Airlift Rescue *Package*

The premise: EDM is in full rebuild mode. LAK have serious playoff aspirations.

The assumption: this is grand posturing preceding a big deal...
Quote:
Brayden Schenn is not going anywhere, read the text from the Los Angeles Kings GM.
The equation: what missing piece(s) would balance the following equation...

Hemsky (W) + Penner (W) + Martindale (C)
=
Schenn (C) + Clifford (W) + Teubert (D) + _______________

Subsequent moves:
EDM also sends Smid (D) to NSH for Blum (D) at the TDL
LAK trade Smyth (W; $6.25M cap/$4.5M sal in 2011-12) at the upcoming draft for a pick/prospect

oiler fans wont dig given up both Penner and Hemsky in the deal

Martindale looks to be good

not going to engage this trade because both sides will put up a fight

No trade. Edm can probably get near the same amount next year if they want.

Replace Clifford with loktionov and add the kings first and it would be a deal from this oiler fan's perspective.

A full rebuild doesn't mean we have to trade every player on the roster over the age of 25 for picks and prospects. We still need veterans.

I don't buy I'm sure LA will trade Schenn to get Hemsky or Penner

Where would the HFboards be without all these Hemsky and Penner scenarios.

Leave it to the Oilers to do most of the heavy lifting here.

Oilers/Kings proposals should be temporarily disabled for the next 24 hours.

Guys I don't see why edmonton doesn't just do something like

Hemsky/Penner+2nd
for Schenn+1st

EDM gets schenn to add to thier already solid prospect core and LA gets two guys who could be super playoff helpful.

Personally i dont see whynot.

Can we sub Gagner for Penner sir?

If we already have Schenn and Couturier, we won't have any use for little Sammy Gagner anymore. We could use Penner to help us land Seguin or some help on the blueline.

Why does this need its own thread? There are enough B.Schenn to the Oilers, Hemsky to L.A. threads ad nauseum.

Visualizing the possibilities then...

Up Front
Hall - Schenn - Eberle
Paajarvi - Gagner/Loktionov - Omark/Simmonds
Cogliano/Hamilton - Horcoff/Stoll - Brule/Clifford

Blueline
Whitney (L) - Gilbert (R)
Peckham (L) - Greene (R)
Chorney (L) - Petry (R)
Teubert (R) - Blum (R)
Marincin (L) - Larsson (R)

Maybe take clifford out and put in 1 of Forbort, Loktionov, Hickey or Voynov. That sounds better.

Could you imagen Penner and Hemsky on LA though, you have to admit they would be very scary to play against upgrading that much without giving any roster players up.

Oilers give up too much. Lombardi will sit on his ass another year if he doesn't want pony up other GM's demands for their best players. He can afford to sit on any deal though, the core is still young and cap-space isn't an issue

I'd much rather have Clifford, Loktionov is yet ANOTHER small center Clifford is exactly what we need a tough SOB that raises hell in front of the net and a guy that doesn't **** around when the gloves are off, he goes for it and much more often than not dishes out more than he receives.

Edmonton is headed for their 2nd straight 1st overall pick, if you get rid of both these guys you can set the NHL record for top lottery picks.
