Why is TSN wasting time on this? It's 2011 and we have no idea if the players are even going to the Olympics.

Bergeron is T-31st in the league in scoring, T-12th in +/-, one of the best faceoff guys in the league, one of the best defensive centers in the leauge, and extremely strong against the wall.

Yet people on here can't get over his performance while injured last year. At least TSN recognized how good he is.

Riiiiiiiiiiight.

- He's been the Habs #1 d-man since Christmas.

- He's the one on the ice when there's a minute left and they have a 1 goal lead to defend.

- He is the on the shutdown defensive pair used against the other team's top offensive guns.

- He has put up 17 points in his last 24 games.

- Doing all of this as a 21 year old.

Subban is a hell of a hockey player, people need to put aside the stupid hatred and start accepting it.

I love Taylor Hall and all, but Jordan Eberle has done sooo well competing at the international level. I'd pick him over Hall.

Why are people making a big deal out of this? There is nobody on the list that wouldn't be at least considered for the team right now. Sure some big names got left off, but its just an early opinion from two hockey analysts. The final team probably won't look look like this, but it is certainly not ridiculous.

Four goalies?

Way to go out on a limb and pick three, TSN. No stones for that?

I guess since Iggy will be gone they'll need Subban to play the ever -important role of "Token black guy."

im glad someone else said this.

theres always going to be behind the scenes political bias with these picks. Bergeron, Subban. even a cute story like the Staal brotheresssses.

If Subban makes the team, then I'll have to seriously question Canada's motives. If Subban gets in, I can't wit to watch Russia, Sweden, and USA tear up whatever pairing he's on.

Fairly conservetive list. It definitely won't look like this obviously and they know it.

Would have been more interesting if they really took an opinionated one thats not as expected.

Forwards
Sidney Crosby (A), John Tavares, Steven Stamkos, Jamie Benn, Rick Nash, Taylor Hall, Eric Staal, Claude Giroux, Jonathan Toews, Mike Richards, Jeff Skinner, Milan Lucic, (No 7th Forward, one of defensemen can play forward if needed)

Other Possibilities : Jeff Carter, Matt Duchene, Jordan Staal, James Neal

Defensemen
Duncan Keith, Mike Green, Tyler Myers, Alex Pietrangelo, Drew Doughty, Shea Weber, and the thing I got flamed for in the defensemen thread, Ryan Murphy and Ryan Murray as the 7th and 8th defensemen.

Other Possibilties : Marc Staal, Chris Pronger, Luke Schenn, PK Subban

Goalies

Cam Ward, Carey Price, Jonathan Bernier

Other Possibilties : Marc-Andre Fleury, Roberto Luongo, James Riemer

If he can survive his rookie season as the #1 defenseman on a playoff team in a hockey-mad market, I don't think it's out of the question at all for him to be Olympic-ready in 3 seasons. Have people been "tearing up" whatever pairing he's on this season? No.

Furthermore, he'd likely be pretty low on the depth chart still, and used for the powerplay. He wouldn't be facing the other teams' top lines.

I think the Subban hate is certainly warranted. When the Habs played the Canucks, I couldn't stand the sight of him. He's downright irritating, in almost everything he does. But if you deny his talent, you're clearly letting your hate get the better of you.

In a post-script, I'd like to agree with the guy who mentioned Eberle. I have no problem with his WJC heroics being a deciding factor in him making the team or not. He's proven his clutchness.

Perhaps, but in three years it's more than likely that Hall will already be head and shoulders better than Eberle. It'd be nice to have both of them on the team, though.

Hall-Crosby-Eberle

good luck rest of world.

Hall "makes it" but no Duchene?

What is TSN doing anyways.

Right, "injured". Getzlaf was one of Canada's best players and he was far more injured.

Bergeron is a good player, but he's not in the same class as the others on Team Canada. I know you are a Bruins fan, but be realistic.

Why are people acting like Hall doesn't deserve to be on the list? Is it a stretch to say he'll probably be one of the better wingers in the NHL 3 years from now?

Yes.

Apparently no one entering the NHL from now until 2014 will make the team.

It's not like there was anyone like that on the 2010 team.

Definitely.

I mean, 2014 is basically tomorrow, so a young player like Subban will definitely be exactly the player he is today by then.

He sucker punches Crosby, then jumps Subban while the states skate down and score. It will be just like the Rhino Brothers.
