Boston traded 2 players and got 2 players back so that doesn't work

Poile like any other GM is never going to say "yeah he is available, that is why he is being sat"...never gonna happen, just like Burke saying he will never say he is interested in a player on another roster cause it gets into tampering and he also isn't going to tip his hand.

Reporters gotta report.

The first story was McGratton for a late pick, that didn't make sense.

I've got my PG Excuses ready to go :

1. Tried to secure a power forward, asking price too high
2. We feel we are in a good spot
3. Size isn't a big factor these days
4. The other team asked for too much
5. It was better to add depth
6. We believe we have a good group going forward
7. Hard to assess our team because of key injuries.

Did I miss anything, after PG does nothing tomorrow?

Well they had a good enough group to make it to conference finals last year. Gomez better get very hot otherwise it will be one round and out this year.

It has nothing to do with PG, but you missed this:

Fans whine and cry because we don't get any player. They assume tradedeadline is some entertainment event where the management must satisfy our desires for a show.

A lot of teams will try to make moves tomorrow, some will, a lot won't. Sometimes it's just not worth making a trade no matter how much the fans want to see one.

I'd rather have zero trades than having one for the sake of like the Dumont rumors.

You have to admit that the hockey media enforces this notion for profit.

It is pretty damn entertaining.. especially when nothing is going on and the panelists are trying to kill time... that's when pierre mcguire shines

It's especially entertaining when mcguire stands so close to dutchy.

LOL

I'm just waiting to hear something like Pyatt being the reason why a deal fell apart.

Someone is using a fake Lebrun twitter and reporting Deal done. Brad Richards is now part of the #Leafs. Kadri+MacArthur+Conditional 1st (resign)

And people are going nuts lol

Yah they do and all it does is reinforce childish behavior in the fans who feel like they are owed a trade because it's trade deadline.

Eller and Schultz for Halak
Bournival for O'byrne
Festerling and a 5th for Lapierre
Mara for a 5th
Wisniewski for a 2nd
Sopel and Dawes for a 4th and Maxwell.

No blockbusters, but he has been active. Moreover, the Wisniewski deal was pretty signficant. He's 10th in scoring for d-men this season 7th for assists. Had we acquired him at the deadline it would have been seen as a significant move.

The hilarious part about the faux-Lebrun is that the players given for Richard aren't exactly great.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun It sounds like something you'd report, though.

+1 to PG doing a good job.

I think that he has filled some holes that needed filled. I am sure that he would have liked to concentrate on offense, but with all the injuries on D, we really had no choice.

I'll be just as happy if we stay the course. Obviously if we could move Gomez for a decent return sure, but we cannot afford to give him away either.

Yup hard to fill holes when injuries create other holes that need to be filled. With the system that Martin employs, defense was a priority and Gauthier acted accordingly. Our biggest need was offense from the back end 3 months into the season and Gauthier addressed that with Wiz. We literarly had zero offense from the back, ZERO!

Then Spacek and Gorges go down...two key defensive d-men, though I wouldn't call spacek great at that. The emergence of Weber allowed us to shoulder the burden of one of these injuries, Sopel was a good replacement for Gorges. Mara is much better depth than Picard that's for sure.

It would have been funnier if the fake Lebrun had tweeted Richards to the Habs for Subban, Patches and a first. The reaction from Habs fans would have been INSANE lol

I think it's funnier that he could have tweeted that the leafs traded their entire farm team, and leafs still would have been happy with the steal

What's funny is that 75% of their fans would have turned on Kadri in a split second and said he was a bust anyways.

Had we traded Subban for Richards, I'd have been in a fenzy(and not a good one). Maybe I'm wrong for it, but I stand by the players that I am high on.

It is entertaining, because its the last chance to improve your team this year. So hey, no doubt PG thinks this team has no holes to fill, thats why I can't stand him. What was Einstein's definition of insanity again? Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results... , sounds about right in Montreal.

Where did he say he has no holes to fill. Even the legit insiders have confirmed he's looking to improve his top 6. No trades does not mean no effort.
