Boyes is a classic "change of scenery" kind of trade. It's not earth-shattering but it certainly shores up our center depth. It also makes Connolly completely expendable as far as our stretch run goes.
I'd love to see Stafford moved tomorrow in a bigger, splashier move.
Overall, I like it, especially if for a 2nd (or a 3rd as I saw somewhere).
Blues fan here. He has been a solid assist man this year and that is absolutely it. Won't battle for pucks, won't play physical and forgot how to score. Also, his misses the net more than anyone on our team. Again, can pass and that's it. Good luck with him. and the rest of the season.

If he just passes thats fine. We can just put him on LW to set up Stafford
I'm thinking out loud on this. He is listed as a LW and a center depending on the site. Just trying to hash out which
I think he has been used a lot like Hecht has been here lately (fairly equal between center and wing). I doubt he'll play anything other than center with the Sabres thought. Hecht-Boyes-Vanek could be a pretty good line with some solid size. Hecht for puck retrieval, Boyes and Vanek to do the goal work.
I know he's a few years removed from it but its great to have another youngish (28) player who has scored over 40 goals in recent seasons. Tapping into that potential would be fantastic.
Was it a chemistry problem? Could a change of scenary put him back on track?
(Serious question)
No clue. Used to be a sniper and just lost it. I hope he regains form with you guys because, like us, you have never won a cup. Hope he helps you guys.
I like that Boyes has some size. But doesnt sound like he uses it
He potted 40 in a year, and 30+. What happened last year and this year? I heard hernia issues?
So he plays center and LW?? So I guess the jury is still out on Connolly... It gives us more options in the top 6, but Id say its safe to say that even if Connolly isnt moved by 3PM, he wont be resigned now that we could possible have Roy and Boyes as our 1A/1B centers both making 4 mill next year (our version of 1A/1B)
