You guys are underestimating Hemsky. I love Simmonds, he is a great player, and he has an awesome relationship with Doughty, but he is a third line player. Hemsky is hyper skilled, has been near a ppg player for practically most of his career, especially as of late, and has insane hockey sense. He will be putting up 20+ goals and likely 70+ points with Kopitar as a minimum. You can't turn your back on it. Sooner or later we have to make a deal for a player like this. Simmonds is on the bottom of possible casualties for such a player, you can't overlook an offer like that.

P.S. I recommend skipping 2:12-2:23.

And what happens when Hemsky gets hurt and he becomes a free agent next summer and the Kings have nothing to show for trading Simmonds? You are going to be on these very boards *****ing about the Kings trading a young up-and-coming, physical 20-goal scorer in Simmonds.

LOL, don't be so quick to throw in the towel. With about two and a half hours more to hear of trade news, something will come up.

There is literally no one moving.

Hemsky is the best possible option. Parise is not getting moved. Nash isn't getting moved.

If we want a highly skilled forward, it's him. If we have to give up Simmonds to get that, then fine. If you don't want to give up Simmonds, then you should just want to stand pat because we're not going to get anyone better.

Only THREE TRADES have happened. Nothing is going on.

IIRC... weren't Halpern and/or Modin announced shortly after the deadline had ended?

I'm sure Dean has a plan A, B C and D ready to go depending on negotiations. We'll pick up a player or two. There's still a a hole left by Sturm's departure and another hole at wing that needs to be filled.

He would be taking a pay cut to move to Los Angeles, don't believe there is any state taxes in Florida...

Jim Fox mentioned that he believed that Penner could be a Dean Lombardi type of player and he personally would prefer Penner over Hemsky.

Nah, maybe the Modin one was but the Halpern trade was well before the deadline.

O'Sullivan/Williams trade was well after the deadline, IIRC

Remember when everyone on here wanted Brandon Witt because he was the "sexy" name?

No quick fixes! Trading Simmonds for Hemsky would be a BIG F'ING MISTAKE!

Then we're either going to stay we're at or trade for a depth guy like Connolly.

There is not even a remote comparison between Witt and Hemsky as far as the caliber of player goes. Like not at all.

The O'Sullivan-Williams-Cole deal was well after.

Amazingly how few trades!

Kinda of funny and also it's funny just how useless all those rumors turned out to be.

I agree.. i think the Williams signing is a PR move saying that we
"did something" because all NHL media outlets are saying the kings will do something.

In fact per usual TradeDeadlineDay/DraftDay/FreeAgencyDay...

...we do nothing.

For a team that gets so little coverage and reporting, you should be happy for every last vestige of legitimate media that cares about the Kings, instead of calling one of the only major newpaper reporters... wait, scratch that, the ONLY major newspaper reporter who cares about our team, useless.

Hemsky is only 27 years old. Only two years older than Brown. It's not like we would be trading Simmonds for some over the hill guy who will retire in a year or two.

I want Hemsky. He is an awesome player. Seriously.
