Eh, Mitchell can fill in for injuries instead of having to call up Newbury/Weiss. He scored 29 and 23 points in the NHL in season's past. He's only 25. Made 725k this year and is an RFA at season's end. No big deal.
Boring deadline though. Good we didn't trade for Richards; apparently most GMs feel just like I do - he'll be available July 1st. Good luck Dallas; if you don't get management figured out soon, you get to watch Richards walk for free.
He is better than half the team down in the AHL and when he is on, he is actually a pretty good NHL player.
I said it before today, the 'Pack needed help. Mitchell gives them a big body to help. White is out. Kolarik is out. MZA was called up permanently. McDonagh was called up permanently. Newbury has been up and down. Kennedy was traded.
He's hardly a capable AHL player too, but thanks for the invalid point
You have no idea what the hell you are talking about. Not sure I can put it any nicer. As a depth player for Hartford he is perfectly capable. There is nothing other than your opinion that points to the contrary.
This deal is pretty much identical to the Mark Bell move of two years ago.
^^^^Thats not the point! The Whale needed help. They have injuries and the Rangers injuries mean that they have lost players to the Rangers. They have been pulling up players from the ECHL at an alarming rate. They have been signing random players to professional try-outs at the same rate
Don't be so quick to dismiss Mitchell. He's supposed to be great at faceoffs.
Actually, you SHOULD be so quick to dismiss him, IF you're looking for him to play in the NHL (which I'm sure isn't the case here). You can expect 3-5 good shifts out of him every couple of months. Nothing much to see here, trust me.
