Higgins! I use to love him in Montreal and always shouted "Higgity, higgity, HIGGINS!" every time he scored. I know it is ridiculous but I missed doing it. Now I can again.

And we acquired Lapierre? What is this, pick up all of Montreal's old depth?

Love getting Higgins. Not sure about Lapierre, not the end of the world though if he doesn't work out I guess

Excellent deals for the Canucks - gave up very little and got veteran depth. Now we have 4 lines of experienced NHLers.

* Lapierre, even though he's a ****, was excellent for the Habs in the playoffs, scored 3 goals so contributed.

* Higgins is an enigma - played really well for the Habs in his early years then ran into issues and was traded to the Rangers. Still, he's a good hockey player. Of note, was killing penalties in Florida.

Lapierre played two years under AV with PEI Rockets. Higgins wasn't with the Canadiens while AV was they're head coach, fyi.

Really like the Higgins trade... but value wise, the Lappy trade does seem a bit high if there is no prospect lumped in there too, considering he was traded for Festerling and a 5th just 2 months ago.

Canucks needed a pot-stirrer, and the 4th line is where you stash someone like that. They've been far too placid at times this season. I know about them embracing discipline and I'm 100% behind that, but you don't want 20 guys going for the Lady Byng trophy either.

Congratulations to Lapierre. He works hard every night and tackles everything that moves. Really do not understand at all why the Ducks trades him. Murray at his best .....

Have fun!

Having watched Laps for two, if not three years, this is an excellent addition to the Nucks. He is one hell of a troll but a damn effective bottom six who dropped off in Montreal due to a dislike of Martin and the defensive direction of the team.

What is awesome about Higgins is he has goal scoring potential and struggled horrendously since his shoulder injury. With a team like Vancouver, where he is no longer required to be the relied upon scorer, he may recover his confidence and rebound. I would not at all be surprised to see him replace Raymond but that is a stretch.

Best part about these deals is that Kesler can play 2 less minutes per game from now until the playoffs.

As I understand it (and I may be wrong), but because CoHo is on the roster as of the trade deadline, he can be sent down to Manitoba and still be recalled if needed. Assuming he is sent down, Manitoba will no doubt put him on their playoff clear day roster as well - which means if he is recalled it will have an impact on Manitoba.

I like Higgins - he seems to have found his game again in Florida. He's a good skater, who put up 3 20+ goal seasons in Montreal. He has both size and skill and can play on the PK and 4th line or move up to the 3rd or even 2nd line if needed.

Max Lappierre will add the grit (along with Glass) that Vigneault likes from his 4th line. We'll have to see if (as Ray Ferraro suggested) he has the discipline to play the game that Gillis and Vigneault expect.

When you google 'MacGregor Sharp', one of the first results is McGregor-Sharp Filtering Equipment.

History
Teamed with teammate Mason Raymond to form one of the Alberta Junior Hockey League’s most dangerous one-two punches. Sharp tallied 46 points in 40 games, including 20 goals. If he had played the entire season, he likely would have rivaled Raymond’s point totals.

Talent Analysis
Though possessing similar offensive skills to Raymond, Sharp plays a much more in-your-face style of game. He is tenacious, and when he’s on his game, teams think there’s five of him on the ice. He is an excellent fore-checker, and he has the skating ability to get in on opposing defenses before they can move the puck. He’s an excellent teammate, a good leader, and he is a very competitive player who just loathes losing. The best NHL comparison one might make is the Vancouver Canucks Matt Cooke.

Yeah you need a guy to help target the other team's top players. A poor man's Bolland if he does his job right.

He's Raymond's ex-linemate.
