I'd be surprised if Teubert ever played an NHL game

He will because Edmonton's defense is bad bad bad.

Top 6 forward who is not a rental for zero roster players? As Charlie Sheen would say, "Winner!"

Dean got his top six forward and signed Williams to a discounted contract. The Kings just need to finish off the night with a win against Detroit.

With Peckham hurt, he might get a game soon.

It amazes me how some of these so called "experts" get jobs. It's like they see that Teubert was picked 13th overall and think he's the best D prospect in the kings system. Get a ****ing grip.

Fantastic deal. A presence down low we have lacked this year without Frolov. I had been hoping for Penner over Hemsky if we were going to get one of them, so I am loving it.

What number does he wear? 29 perhaps?

Solid pick up. I would keep Simmonds on the top line & keep Brown on the 3rd line.

Penner/Kopitar/Simmonds
Smyth/Stoll/ Williams
Poni/Zus/Brown
Clifford/Lewis/Richie

San Jose has more flash but they lack the shutdown forwards that LA has in Stoll and Handzus.
That's because San Jose's shutdown forwards are Marleau and Thornton. Maybe throw in Couture as well.

Scoring less this year because they need to help our weak blueline. We're fourth best in GA in the west.

We can finally roll four lines.

No longer do we have to ask Richardson or Clifford to play in lines they aren't ready for.

Okay, I was up til like 5 am mashing my refresh button and had nightmares of losing all my favorite players during my few hours of sleep cause of all the entertaining rumors, but the nail biting paid off I think. Seems like a good deal, and I will be so happy seeing my number 17 skate out tonight and still belong to LA.

So, how long til we get to see this new guy in purple?

It's the significance of the deal that's striking to me.

For the first time, Dean got his "Plan A" player. The gaping hole we had at wing has been filled with the top player available to fill it (assuming someone better doesn't get traded before the day is done).

It's a great day for the Kings on a lot of fronts.

Interesting trade. First time Lombardi gave up a 1st, then a prospect with that? It is also odd because Penner always had his heart questioned when character is all that Lombardi was lookign for. We must be at the stage where he believes the locker room's culture is strong enough to influence him rather than vice versa.

As most Kings fans said, Teubert just seemed less and less likely to make it with the Kings. I don't know if it's because he wasn't all that great or just that our pipeline is so deep. I kind of saw him being our #7 after a few years, so it doesn't seem like we lost all that much by trading him.

On an unrelated note, I do wonder about Hickey too. I do think the time is ticking for him as well.

Penner definately upgrades a place of need for us. One thing about this trade is that it isn't a rental. I never liked rentals and I like the idea of us acquiring a guy who will be here for an additional year as well. Also, supposedly, his wife is an actress in LA, so maybe that'll be incentive to stay as it is for Mr. Carrie Underwood.

Big plus, by the way, we acquired a top 6 LW for no roster player and no major prospect. By major I mean anyone in the top 5. Teubert is probably questionable as our top 10. So he really is low on the chain if you think about it.

... I'm on board. I like this deal a lot.

Thank goodness the Night Train's sticking around. Hope he gets to be on the top line with Penner and Kopitar.

A for Lombardi.

Lombardi - Any trade talk involving Brayden Schenn is a non-starter.

I love that!

BTW great article on Penner by Scribe and his friend. Thanks

You got that right. A team that just drafted Forbort and already has Martinez, Voynov, Muzzin, Hickey, Deslauriers, even Campbell can probably afford to cut Teubert loose.

Most of the TSN panel actually seemed to like the trade. The Versus guy said we instantly became the 4th best team in the West behind Canucks, Wings and Sharks.

We got the best player of the day and that's all we could have hoped for since Hemsky would have cost Schenn and Richards couldn't become a King.

The latter is certainly part of it. The former though I think you have to marginalize because of the situation he's been in there. He's played on a very bad team for a very long time, and that emotionally affects any player.

I remember back to when Penner was plucked away fromt he Ducks via the offer sheet. To have a GM think that much of a player to do that, and for the current Ducks GM to be as furious as they were about it tells me most of what I need to know about Penner's value.

Could you fill in the details this is news for me.

Edit: not "news" but I was not around when it happened.
