To be fair, that entire line has cooled off. DD is like other small players {i.e. Gio and Cammy), he needs big guys to give him space to work with. I'm far from sold on DD, but Pouls and White haven't exactly been helping him. He is still playing with intensity, but there is a problem when he is the most noticeable forechecker on his line.

Sure Price was awesome tonight but he's a member of this team and our best player. Does Caps fans complain all the time that Ovi is to good??

Price is a part of this team and fans should just be happy about it, one day this team will be better and Carey will still be a Habs.

Quite honestly, not sure why people are unpleased with the effort tonight.

I thought the quality of scoring chances were quite even. A good example of this is when the Gomez line had an entire shift in the Thrashers zone and didnt get a quality chance, Atlanta had a few of those as well. We had a few breakaways, a couple point blank shots, and our PP was clicking tonight. Yeah Price came up with some nice saves, but that is expected of him on the road. Besides a bad giveaway(it was also a bad read by the forward) I doubt the Thrashers would have even scored a goal tonight. We also had a few excellent chances to go up 3-0 or 4-0(Hammers open net shot, Cammys open net shot, and Pacioretty´s breakaway).

I like our forward lines right now, we have a lot of balence. The Gomez line is good at keeping the puck, and Pacioretty is pushing the play quite well; Plekanec and Cammy are going to heat it up, the chances are coming; Eller and Kostitsyn seem to have some kind of Euro chemistry going on; and the fourth isnt bad either, Pouliot has had a good season, and DD is a fiesty ****er. Sometimes its not about how many goals you score, but having favourable matchups throughout the forward lines, I think we have that against a lot of teams. Probably a reason we have such a good home record.

I don't care how we win anymore. Any. means. necessary. We did it with Vancouver, I don't care if we do it with Atlanta. Just get it done. And done it they did.

I shutter to think what Price's next contract will look like.. I really hope it's a very long one and this guy is around for many many more years to come..

Playing agaisnt 3rd and 4th liner, while Patches is playing top lines night in and night out.

It seems like you really like DD and I know it's a little early to say this, but I think he's only gonna be a 3rd line center, which is great in the new NHL since you need scoring from your top9.

DD cannot play against top lines because he isn't fast/strong enough to contain them.

I pretty much agree with this.

Desharnais will make a fine third line centre and will help the Habs in the near future, at obtaining a good top-9, due to playing against bottom pairing defensemen. Versteeg was very good for Chicago, playing on the bottom 6 and against bottom pairing defensemen. He was put into Toronto's top 6 and everyone wondered why his production dropped.

I thought they gave a decent effort tonight. They got the two points and thats what matters. Hopefully they can build on this win.

Send Weber down.

Wiz pitched in perfectly tonight.
One goal and a breakaway.
How can you complain about his play 2night ?
I agree, Mara played big tonight.

This cracked me up so much during the game, I wasn't sure if I saw it correctly. Seriously though, wtf was that ref doing?! When a played is skating at you, MOVE, don't block him. I don't think he would've tried that if AK was the one coming at him.

Currently this is how I see him too. 3rd liner + PP specialist. He's also a beast on face-offs.

I think he's underused right now on the PP (I think that for that, he's currently far superior to Gomez and should get his ice-time although it's not happening), but I agree that at 5v5 he will have a very hard time against the other teams top lines. I'm sure he'll learn a few tricks and improve along the way, but he won't become a first line center.

But a 3rd liner that can put 40-50 points (getting a bunch on the PP) is very valuable in the current NHL.

I like Weber. But I like Mara too. Gotta say, that hit Mara delivered at the blueline before our first PP (I think it was the first one) was soo refreshing to see. How often do we see that from the Habs? Little plays like that are game changers sometimes. Way to step up Mara.

I remember Smolinski and Begin steppin it up physically in game seven of that series vs the Bruins in 08 and I think that helped set the tone for that win.

He seems to be handling playing vs 3rd and 4th liners quite well for now. Give the guy a break. He's developing quite nicely and handling himself better than most expected. Time will tell what his limitations are.

Exactly, guy has what? 30 games? Took Patches 80+ games to score 6 goals

Did enough to win a road game. Price was so in the zone, it was insane.

Wizniewski though, as much as I'd like to see only his good points, is really making it a tough case on himself. Honestly, this guy in his zone with the puck is really bad. And for a team based on speed, while it was okay today, you cannot have Hamrlik, Sopel, Mara and Gill in the lineup. You cannot. As much as people would like to send Weber in the ECHL because of how Mara hit the guy, there will be other days when you'll want to ship Mara in the ECHL himself....Weber was improving in all aspects. Sopel made a mistake that cost Price his shutout but played okay the rest of the game.

I'm just saying, we had an incredible goalie tonight. Might not always be the case. And when it's not going to be, the flaws of those D's will start showing.

But in resume, tonight, they played well enough to win. But strangely enough, the D-man that scared me all night tonight was not Sopel and Mara....Wiz should pass the puck to Hammer much sooner and let him do the dangling....

Perron is still a pretty good hockey player despite being out of the game...

Keeping Pouliots time under 10mins, good job JM. Just because he is talented and playing with confidence doesnt mean you can't bench him most of the game and grind his spirit down. Who does he think he is?

Gionta got more ice time than gomez? SOAB!!

Gomez played alright this game. It seems is ability to score is flat out gone. Not sure how he deserves the ice time he seems to get.

Has nothing to do with his contract. His play is terrible.
