I don't give an olli about Plante or Petiot, and I was switching back and forth between games tonight, but I thought Ricky was pretty solid tonight. He wasn't a Vandstrom or anything, but he seemed pretty involved.

It would actually be libel. But yes, of course you are, everyone loves a good Dane joke. Fire away.
Petiot was one of our best defencemen last night, he and Vandermeer looked great together. Not a bad shut down pair and physically intimidating. Not bad...

Petiot had an early mistake, but other than that looked really good. Strudwick and Vandy looked good too. Hopefully for Petiot he can continue that play and it was just a guy get his first NHL action in a long time.

it would be nice if he bulked up a bit, seems slender for 6'4, but he was physical and he seemed pretty comfortable towards the end of the game.
Hopefully he gets some reasonable minutes because if he continues on the same road he was on last night then maybe in 15 games he becomes a legit NHL dman.
But I guess thats hoping our development process in OKC is a good one... Which I am still not sure of.

I keep hearing this sentiment on the radio and on these boards and it's mind boggling.
He did get marginally better by the end of the game, but the first two periods and the 1st period especially he looked out of place out there.
A couple glaring giveaways and he was out of position on several rushes and in dzone coverage.
I'm hoping that its because most people watched the game on tv, but live, he was scary to watch.

I noticed in the first 5 mintues he wasn't anything special, made a couple puck moving mistakes and tried to make a hit that he shouldn't have. But otherwise he looked okay.
can't believe how long the organization took to call him up, how did he not impress in pre season? calling up Chorney and Belle before him :
I could've sworn hearing that he was struggling in the AHL earlier on, so who knows.
It's really not that big of a deal anyway. Belle was called up for offense and Chorney is someone you invested lots in. It's really not the end of the world.
Petiot had a very good game in my opinion. He was a physical force, assertive and made simple plays. All dmen make some mistakes in every game, lets not over analyze here. I'm sure he was playing on pure adrenaline last night. I would like to wait until after a few games and practices and then see how he settles in.
For me i would rather give minutes to him than a 'strudwick' type.

I have nothing against Chorney, that's for sure, I just feel that Petiot should have also got the call earlier, Petiot has a shot of making the Oil right off the bat next season in my mind.

But if you want to compare the two, Richard Petiot is 28 years old. When Cory Cross was 28, he had already played 5 and a half seasons in the NHL and would go on to play in 6 more (and was actually quietly effective for a lot of that time). Petiot would be fortunate to turn out as poorly as Cory Cross apparently did.
