A short behind-the-scenes clip about the trade call to NHL office. Fun to see how they actually do the thing.

edit: Niemi to a four-year extension with Sharks. 3,8mil annual cap-hit.

Wow. He's been pretty good lately, but that's an overpayment.

I would like to meet Niemi's agent. I have a sneaky suspicion that he likes to take long walks on the water instead of the beach, multiplies fish and bread out of thin air, and turns water into wine in his free time.

No way Niemi deserves anything like that, and I'm so happy that I have Leighton right now and not Niemi.

Yeah, who wants a guy who has won 15 of his last NHL 19 games, including his last seven, when you could have a guy who might never play in the NHL again?

Niemi is the MVP of the Sharks and has taken the team from outside the playoff picture to 3rd in the Western Conference, within striking distance of Detroit.

I still wouldn't want Niemi@3.8, but I don't want Leighton@1.55 either

im happy Leighton is in the AHL where he belongs with that cap hit and have Bobrovsky and Boucher as our starters.
I agree about Niemi tho, 3.8 is too much. 2.5 would of been fine with a 4 year deal IMO

You'd rather have someone buried in the minors?

Niemi cashed in on a hot streak. He's good, but not someone I'd want to commit that term and dollar to. Very few goalies in the league you would.

I'd rather suffer through Leighton on my team than pay Niemi 3.8m. That's just brutal.

And everyone here complains about Shelley's contract.

Also, this was brought to my attention today:

A Leafs fan saying about the Flyers (around the 0:34 mark) "I just don't think that they're a good team." That's rich. I'll give her a pass though. Perhaps she didn't choose her words carefully enough as she did sound rather crestfallen and anti-Flyer.

It must be the lighting, but Ron Wilson looks so different in this video from seeing him on camera behind the bench.

Trevor Gillies - first game back - 5 and a game for another unnecessary, dirty headshot on Cal Clutterbuck. Aimed right for the head.

If Pitt could go ahead and lose to Toronto, it'd be cool.

edit: "Thats a courageous play by Lovejoy." Really? Since when is a diving trip a courageous play?

edit2: Great shift by Phaneuf on the game winner.

RT @bruce_arthur: That was about as good as the Dion Phaneuf and Phil Kessel trades have looked on a single play.
