If Kadri 2 years ago was in this draft he would be top 5 maybe top 3 or more.
His progression has been on schedule, don't let the Toronto media circus cloud your judgement without watching this kid play. He has gotten better since being drafted not worse and there was no serious talk of him being NHL ready out of the gate.
Media expectation and real expectations are different. I believe one of the major reasons he is even in the AHL is to get those media and fan expectations under control so they don't ruin his development. He had some work to do with size, balance and defensive play but so do 99% of all drafted kids.

Completely agree. Expectations for this kid have been completely warped.
I thought he looked good in camp and pre-season, and even though his points werent there, did well during his call-up. He turns the puck over a couple of times, and it becomes a huge issue.
I saw him quite a bit in junior and what I will say, is that I really think he could have put up better numbers last year in London, and also, with the Marlies. It looks to me like is working on his all round game and trying to correct his weaknesses. He is thinking more than re-acting, at times. This should help him down the road.
I don't see what MPS has done to pass Kadri. He's having a really lackluster rookie season getting plenty of playing time in Edmonton. Kadri is tearing up the AHL and could end up MVP of the Calder Cup (knock on wood)
I like MPS' game.
He isn't a sniper, his future is as a 3 zone forward. If you were looking at the Leafs, I'd say Kulemin type of player with more upside.

using his big frame to create space and his skating ability to find open lanes to drive the net. He stands 6-3 and is a natural goal scorer with plenty of confidence.
He's a scout's dream in the way he prepares himself and plays an unselfish game, making smart decisions with the puck. With his bloodlines, he certainly understands what it will take to make it at the next level.
He'd have to get to the top 3 to get Landeskog, he could very well go 1st overall at this point.
I agree with this, Landeskog is a long shot at this point. Trading into the top 10 is one thing, top 3 is a whole different story. Given the overall lack of depth in this draft comapred to past years, i just cant see teams trading down when landeskog is still on the board, unless they like another player only a couple spots back.

MPS doesn't really use his size to initiate contact and play physical at all. A more complete/much better Stalberg who is smarter and has a better finish IMO.

i was looking at some past draft trades and fixated on this:
2009 - Isles traded the 16, 26, 37, 62 & 77 FOR 12, 92 & 181
as of now, one of boston/philly is comparable to 26. Leafs 2nd is probably comparable to the 37. Flyers 3rd is 89 right now, but lets equate it to 77 for ease. The remaining leafs 1st likely isnt worth 16+62, but this draft is weaker anyways.
now come the IFs. IF nashville misses the playoffs (so 10-14 range pick), and IF ottawa is willing to move that pick, do you think any of the following proposals would work?
1. (NYI-2009 model)
PHI 1st, BOS 1st, TOR 2nd, PHI 3rd for NSH 1st, OTT 4th, OTT 7th
2. (just the first coming back)
PHI 1st, BOS 1st, TOR 2nd for NSH 1st
3. (tweaking with 3rds, part 1)
PHI 1st, BOS 1st, TOR 2nd for NSH 1st, Ott 3rd
4. (tweaking with 3rds, part 2)
PHI 1st, BOS 1st, TOR 2nd, PHI 3rd for NSH 1st, Ott 3rd

whats more realistic, and IMO favourable, would be to attach lower picks to each of the firsts to move both of them up into the late to mid-teens and get Bartschi and Rattie, both have chemistry with each other and are teammates of Ross.

I actually don't think Burke will package the picks to move up in the draft, but rather trade for a roster player that can have an immediate impact. I also don't think there is much difference after the top 8ish in this draft, and wouldn't bother trading up.
That being said, in any other draft the third option is what I would be looking for. NYI overpaid for that 12th pick, IMO.

Agreed. I'm okay with most permutations and I like the situation for the flexibility it affords the Leafs...

They're trying to move up for Seth Ambrose (sp). If they can't get him, Burkie probably stays put. From conversation with Dave Morrison.

Wishful thinking I think on your part that Nash turns into that high of a pick...Depending if its number 10 pick and say Huberdeau or Saad are still on the board I'd do option #3
