I don't necessarily disagree with you, but Richards would be a trade deadline rental.

Why do we need another lefty d-man? He plays the left side, and Atlanta loves the Enstrom - Byfuglien pairing. Let's try to be realistic here.

If you want a top-pairing puck mover to play with Staal, then he has to play the right side.

Its certainly out of our range, but Ryan Murphy is exactly what this team needs right now. Of course, he is one of the biggest question marks in the draft.

how would you guys feel about drafting Tomas Jurco? Assuming we make the playoffs and pick around the #20 area

WHere are all you NYers seeing these prospects play? Outside of a few youtubes, I can't hardly find entire shifts, nevermind games.

I realize most of this is just fun speculation, but every draft year people post all over this board with condescending authority.

Someone mentioned that the talent drop-off after Huberdeau and Strome is major, and aside from other HF poster's opinions I can't find anything to substantiate that at all. If anything this draft seems much more even through the top 2 rounds then usual, with the question-mark-players beginning as early as top 10.

It's not that I don't trust HF poster's usualu opinions, it's just that it seems people bandwagon and repeat stuff that they have no first hand knowledge of, and it makes prospect talk hard to really learn anything from.

I mean remember the whole Despres is a 1st year #1 d-man/Rob Blake clone? Or Filatov hype. Or Latendresse. Not that those guys aren't quality NHLers, or soon to be, but people around here blew them into Malkin level rookies.

After the top 4, the talent dropoff is undeniable. Huberdeau and Strome are nice but not great. Next year is looking like a beastly draft. If we can accelerate the Sens rebuild and go up into next years draft twice, I'd be much happier than with picking one of the million question marks in the first round of the 2011 draft.
This. This. And This. Next year is looking like a draft similar to 2008's. A lot of high end talent in the first round. Having two picks in the 1st round next year would be a dream come true.

If we keep our pick though, we'll probably be picking around 10-16, depending on if we make the playoffs or not. In that range, my short list includes Armia, Zibanejad, McNeill, Murphy (I think he'll drop like Fowler did), and Catenacci
