What does that have anything to do with playing Quick tonight? Again, Quick has played 3 games in 2 weeks and he hasn't been close to overworked this season.

so why start now? bernier has been good lately, quick has been bad in his last 4 periods of hockey. quick has been awful against phoenix in his career. there's no reason to freak out about our backup goalie starting when our backup goalie is a worthwhile hockey player. this isn't erik ersberg playing for the first time in a month.

friggin so weird...
If they win they move to 5th. Same # of points as Chicago, same # of games played, and lose on the non-shootout games won tiebreaker.

If they do the unthinkable they stay in 8th if Nashville loses in regulation or a shootout, and fall to ninth if NSH wins.

This is not a game we want to lose.

Anybody else get the distinct impression that the penalty shot OT GW goal last night in the ANA/DET game could have been a flash point in the Kings season? I sure did.

WHEN do you throw Bernier in there, after Quick gets blown out again? Quick cannot play the next 4 games - been there done that.

Get on board the Bernier express dude! (and why are there no goalie smilies damnit?!?!?)

That's got to be the best lineup we've iced since the LAPD days. Hopefully better.

Damn right. Now the games really frigging matter.

I know you hate the term 'must win', but I think now the games, particularly these divisional games are truly must wins.

Take a look at the standings and you'll see that based on tonight we can either end up tied for 2nd and 4 points behind 1st in the division, or end up 8 points back of 1st and 4 points back of 2nd. That's a HUGE possible swing this late in the game. Obviously things can change regardless of tonight specifically, but man oh man do you just make things exponentially harder on yourself when you don't win a game like tonight's.

Kings are going to have some serious life in them. Lombardi has sent the message with the Penner trade. Now its time for the team to take it to the next level.

The team responded better to Dean calling out Murphy and the league review system.

Team didn't respond so well against Detroit after Dean traded for Penner.

I'm afraid for Penner and the Kings' fans expecting a huge impact this season. Murray doesn't let players gel for very long and I'm afraid that Penner will get bounced around the lineup. I hope I'm wrong, I would love Penner and Kopitar linked together like Smyth and Stoll.

Using Penner's pace, he will score only 6 or 7 goals for the Kings until the playoffs, try not to put too much on his shoulders.

Going 12-7 gets the Kings to 98 points, so they can lose 7 more games in regulation this year. Tonight isn't a must win, but it is a very important game nonetheless.

The game vs Van is not a 4-pt (5 pt?) game. Just sayin'.

The attitude, particularly for the team, has to be its a must win.

Hell, Doughty has been calling certain games must-wins since December.

And points alone are not necessarily enough in this race. These divisional games are so huge. Tonight's 2 points mean more than Saturday's 2 points.

2 points = 2 points

So, if the Kings lose tonight, it's over? Just give up?

Wow, thank god you aren't the coach. "Must win" is used way too much in sports. I know people like to use it as a joke, but you seem a little nervous.

It's an important divisional game, but not a must win. Both teams are coming off tough losses and neither team has an advantage. Phoenix dominates in LA, a home away from home. I won't panic if the Kings lose.

Tonight, 2 points equals 4 points in the standings.

Who said anything about panicking?

Did I say if they lose its over? No, I said if they lose tonight they make things much harder on themselves than if they win, which is not AS MUCH the case if they lose to Vancouver, who means nothing to our seeding or to our division. Points are points, but when your entire division is in or on the cusp of the playoffs, you better win your divisional games. They are absolutely more important than the non-divisional games.

I always love the "wow thank god you aren't coach (or GM)" comments. As if anyone here is the least bit qualified. Such a silly and obvious thing to say. The insinuation is that I A) want to be coach, B) think I could/should be coach, C) someone else in the discussion is more qualified to be coach.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go scream my head off at Staples for the team I love.
