Blair Jones (replacing injured Vinny Lecavalier) & Mattias Ritola

Quote:
Tampa Bay Lightning captain Vinny Lecavalier will miss at least tonight's game with the Bruins because of a mid-body injury sustained in Wednesday's 2-1 loss to the Devils.

Quote:
There was no immediate word on how the injury occurred, though Lecavalier played through the third period against New Jersey. The Lightning recalled forwards. Blair Jones and Mattias Ritola from AHL Norfolk.

Vinny Lecavalier is out tonight vs #Bruins with mid-body injury; Blair Jones and Mattias Ritola expected to be called up; Bergeron also out
Quote:
Jones is on an emergency recall, which means he has to go down as soon as Vinny is ready to return; Ritola is a straight recall

Ritola has 11 point in 9 games since being sent down. Would love to see him show more this time around with Malone out.

him and Blair were our best forwards tonight. I don't think anyone would actually argue that.

I loved the work ethic, but it's no less than I expected to be honest. Both were deserving of callups and they showed up tonight. Jones took some big shots but he hung in there. I didn't like how Ritola left the ice right after his big hit, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. Solid game for both.

Ritola took a very odd hit around the ribs/shoulder and given hes someone that doesn't lend himself to physical play and as such doesn't work on building strength in the joints to absorb those kinds of hits, its kind of understandable but I feel where you're coming from as well.

Blair got the ****ing ******* beat out of him and kept getting out there. I think the kid is starting to get it. Its like that Herb Brooks thing, you wont get by on talent alone, you don't have enough of it. You have to earn that **** every shift, and he was someone that I saw out there and thought "hey, double shift him if you have to". He looked good. He worked hard. He fought.

He definitely brings some grit and a little bit of scoring touch. He's only on emergency re-call but I wouldn't mind a bit if Jones was here to stay later on and for the playoffs. Wouldn't be a bad 13th forward option.
