Anybody in your town worried about New Jersey?

I think the Devils are making the playoffs. It's going to be nuts. Bruins or Flyers could play them. You guys would crush us (Buffalo) Leafs, Rangers or Carolina.
Flyers are solid through and through. A great team.
But the Devils? They have been playing crazy good for almost 25 games now and Parise is coming back. Brodeur also looks like he's playing better.
This is why I hate playing your guts out during regular season.
Thoughts?

I'm worried.

I'd rather face Rags, Sabres, 'Canes or Habs in the first round. If they can make it to the playoffs from that far - it's a proof they're real deal and red hot.

They are 19-2-2 in last 23. I think every real contender in east, Bruins, Flyers, Capitals, Tampa Bay has to be praying they fall short. Playing them is playing the best team in NHL right now.
It'd be interesting to see Bruins/Flyers lineups near the end if the Devils are in place to finish 8th. I'd throw a game to finish second overall to avoid them. (Sort of kidding.) Then they also might climb to 7th.

I wouldn't want to play them, so yeah, I hope they fall short of the playoffs. They'd be much more of a challenge as an 8 seed or 7 seed or whatever they'd end up being. But the bottom line is we have to beat good teams to get back to the SCF. When the Flyers hopefully break out of their little slump, I think they can beat anyone in the league.

No. They have to make it there before I worry. If they do get there momentum will be on their side, but I still don't think they have a team built for the playoffs.

Don't they have to go like 14-4 to make the playoffs?

I mean, they're hot right now but that seems like an unreasonable pace for the rest of the season. Plus, if you play that hard down the stretch they potentially could be burnt out for the playoffs.

Don't get me wrong I'm worried about them, they're a different team, but I have my doubts they'll make it.

Yes. Devils making the playoffs reminds me too much of the Flyers last year.

Yeah they need to pretty much win out while needing TOR, BUF, NY, and CAR to all struggle. The only thing that would worry me is their momentum, were still a much better team.

Is this season like, example A about how that system affects the performance of a team? I mean, I don't think their talent level is as low as it seemed earlier in the season, but they're certainly playing above it now. It seemed like the Flyers matched up well against them for the last couple years though, I think that could still play into it if we happen to face them in the playoffs. We would definitely have to be on our game though- if we're still playing this way when the playoffs start we'd be in trouble.

Yes they are hot. But they need to put another month like they had in February into March to even have a shot at the playoffs. Having said that I think we match up well against them. Boston, Pitt(if Sid comes back this season) concern me more.

9 point deficit in 18 games. Not really worried yet, but it's is mildly concerning.

honestly, if they make it i hope they grab the 7th seed so they can knock out the bruins/lightning

i have every bit of confidence that we can take them in a 7 game series.

They have a lot of work left. I'm glad they're nuking their high draft pick, though.

Toronto and the Devils making a run to finish 9th and 10th would be perfect.

I'd rather see Toronto in and Buffalo out. I kinda like Burke and ****ing disgust every inch of Sabres organization.

They are not really alike. The Flyers were a team that should have made the playoffs, but were a shootout away from missing them because they went 8-9-3 in their last 20 games. They only really got their act together for their final 4 games. I am not sure how much of the Flyers success was due to momentum when I wouldn't really have considered them a hot team going into the playoffs. I just think things came together at the right time and they had some luck on their side (MTL knocking off Pit and Wash, Krejci going down).

If the Devils make it they will be playing like the best team in hockey for half a season. Momentum will be on their side, but at the same time I have to wonder how much they will have left in the tank due to playing catch up for half a season. That has to be physically and mentally draining. Also I don't think they have a good enough defense so I don't see them going on a run like the Flyers.

The Devils worry me a little bit, but over a seven game series I have serious doubts they could beat the Flyers.

If they make it I'd be concerned, but they still have a long way to go. Their big issue is that they are behind 4 teams. If they were in the 9th spot and were the same distance out they would have a much better chance. Unfortunately for them they have to hope NYR, BUF, CAR, and TOR all slip out while they keep playing well. It isn't impossible, but you have to factor in that those teams play each other so that is at least a handful of points that are guaranteed to go to one of those teams, and if any of those games go into OT its a three point game. It would be pretty amazing for them to storm back like this, but I think they will fall short. Should be an interesting final twenty games or so.

Haha, I love the panic on this board. What's going wrong with the Flyers is that they are playing against other NHL teams. They are going to lose some games and some times they are going to look downright bad doing it. It happens. They are going to get out-played, out-hustled, out-shot, out-everything from time to time. It's been what, 10 games where they haven't played their best hockey? And yet they are still .500 over that time and in first place. Every team is going to have a low spot in the season. Much better to get it out of their system in February-March than in April-May.

I love it when fans clearly ignore the fact that the flyers haven't played their best hockey for well over 25 games. Let alone 10 games.
