This team has a fever... and the cure is more Sekera

The Good -

- Rej in the O'zone. Holy hannah but he's a man possessed.
- Gerbe-Gaustad-Kaleta after the Grier injury. Great low pressure, very good defense and rewarded with the non-viewed MSG ENG
- Ennis. Great to see him pot one and have another three or four great chances.
- Vanek-Boyes-Pominville at ES
- Myers-Butler good on D
- Coming back from being down two to win in Philly? I must be drunk.
- Stafford back on the scoring wagon.

The Bad -

- That predicted shorthander against
- The five on three. Sweet mother of pearl that was bad.
- Another injury.
- Morrisonn with some silly plays again that lead to goals against. I suspect Weber gets back in soon and if he's not good, he'll come back out again.

The Ugly -

- Winning in Philly? Brindy of course!
- MSG's broadcasting issues. Criminy. Huge road game? Under a minute left in the game? Faceoff in the Sabres zone?? And you cut to basketball... and then COMMERCIALS FOR BASKETBALL??? Man alive. Sloppy.

Massive win. It makes tomorrow an even bigger day.

Sekera went into beast mode. The top six made it onto the score sheet. All played huge roles in today's win.

So who gets the call to fill in for Grier tomorrow or do they go with 7 defenseman?

that was a great come from behind win. I never expected to be able to come back from down 2 against the Flyers.

Hey... Briere held off the scoresheet too, I believe.

Hopefully they show up against Minny tomorrow.

I really like Boyes a lot more than I thought I would, even if it has only been 3 games

No. No no no a thousand times no. You do not put a defenseman who is playing well on the wing. The reads are completely different, and part of the advantage of being an aggresive defenseman is the other teams wingers are defending you. Much easier to get by them.

Ennis has looked dangerous lately..with any luck he'd have 20 by now.

So who gets the call with Grier out, Hecht out and Kaleta looking like he cracked something after the Ennis goal? Mancari?

Good:
- Coming back from a 2 goal deficit to win 5-3, against the most well-rounded team in the league. It was a fun and exciting game to watch.
- Vanek was given over 20 minutes of ice time, and he played an excellent game. Give him ~20 minutes a game more often, Lindy.
- A lot of our slumping offensive players showed up tonight. Vanek, Pominville and Ennis all with 2 points each, and Stafford scoring for the first time in 9 games.
- Rej was in total Beast Mode. Hopefully this lasts longer than a handful of games, and he's really found something to build on here.
- Butler and Myers were solid and steady all night. We've needed a defensive pairing like that ever since Monty and Leo started sucking.
- Putting Jay and Thomas back together, and putting Boyes at their center. Good line juggling there by Lindy, that line was effective tonight.

Bad:
- Our powerplay for the most part, mainly the 5 on 3. I don't know why the Sabres love to stand still so much with the man advantage.
- Morrisonn was pretty bad tonight. I didn't like Montador's game much either.
- Philly scoring short-handed. Somebody HAS to cover Kimmo there, I don't care if there weren't any defensemen on the ice for us. It's common sense, always keep an eye on your slot area when you're hemmed in your own zone.
- Miller looked shaky, and made some dumb plays that might have cost us the game. He didn't have a bad game, but he did make some bad plays.
- The reffing was horrible. It was just all over the place (as usual I guess).
- Knowing that we're in a back-to-back, after finishing an emotional come-back win on the first day. Not to mention both games of this back-to-back are away, so the team has to fly all the way out to Minnesota for tomorrow's game. We'll probably lose tomorrow's game, but I guess I'd rather win today anyway (if I had to pick one game to win).
- Finding out Hecht is hurt. He's been playing well for us...

Ugly:
- Rod Brind'Amour

Good:

-Sekera
-Boyes
-Vanek
-Myers

Bad:

-Connolly's still useless.
-Our special teams almost cost us another one. Philly: 1 ppg, 1 shg. Buffalo: oh-fer-whatever, even with lengthy 5-on-3 and 4-on-3.

Ugly:

-Brindy

I thought the same thing. Byron has played the best with the big club, but I have a feeling they'll want to replace Grier's big veteran body with another big veteran body. Mancari best fits that bill. Or possibly Ellis.

Too slow

We need Hecht replaced not Grier. They had no choice since the Hecht decision was today.

Also Mancari is not a strong defensive player like Hecht/Grier. He is an offensive player.

The thing is, IMO, he's only been average on defense. Pair him with the 3rd/4th lines and make him a rover.

E: I'm a shameless Weber fan who wants to see him back in.

My order preference for a potential recall at this point would be:

1. Byron
2. Parrish
3. Mancari
4. Tropp

I was thinking Mancari from the idea of giving him one more shot. See if he'll give it every last thing on the recall.

Byron's been centering Adam and Mancari... he might be a choice too if they want to keep Niedermayer or McCormick back on the wing. He certainly fits the mold that has worked for them -- dogged and quick on the puck.

So agree with the title !!! Sekera is the main reason we got points in the last 4 games !!!

I have finding bad things in a huge win like this but still wondering why they put the exact same players at the end than the Detroit's game, at least they got it done !!! 3 forwards on the ice in the last minute should always be Goose- Pominville- Connolly or Hecht at front, always !!!

Back on Sekera, i always thought he was THE guy who will be more like Campbell when he got traded and he is about to prove me i was right !!! I can't believe he won't be on the 3 stars of this week !!!
