Sabres @ North Stars (6PM EST)

A win and a Rangers regulation loss puts us in 7th. Buffalo Go!

They're 11th in the West right now, but have 4 more points than we do. I smell a loss coming up from a tired Sabres team.

4-2 MIN

Sabres have the carrot dangling in front of them after a big win. That plus a rested goalie could be enough.

Go Sabres!

The Wild have been up and down lately. Which Wild team will show up: the one from the Islanders game or the one from the Rangers game??

I think the Sabres offense stays hot from today. Staff, Pommer both getting back on the scoresheet, and we know how streaky some of our scorers can be.

With no Grier or Hecht, hopefully the Sabres play as well as they did today in the second and third periods.

First post. Woo!

Big let down game. After a huge win in Philly the Sabres put it on cruise control and lose a close one 3-1 with the 3rd goal going into an empty net. Enroth looks decent again.

After that emotional game against Philly, with such a high score and our "big money players" showing up, I smell a loss here. 3-1 Minnesota in a boring game.

I'm not feeling too optimistic, but a win would be beyond huge.

This would be a really underrated win, being as its nonconference. But considering the stakes...

Anyway, like said above, coming off an emotional game + travel + Minnesota's 2 nights off + plus their ability to shut it down on the backend

Just don't see it
4-1 Wild Stars

I'm not feeling a win here. Then again I didn't feel a win at Philly either, so who knows.

Hecht and Grier out, Mancari in means we can actually try to field 3 scoring lines effectively.

Poms - Boyes - Vanek
Ennis - Connolly - Stafford
Mancari - McCormick - Gerbe (dunno who should be on center though, no bloody idea. But don't ruin it with Gaustad in the middle.)
Nieds - Gaustad - Kaleta

Should be atleast worth the shot.

We've had a couple games so far where we had a chance to move into a playoff spot, but we haven't been able to do it so far. I think we will today, though.

Vanek had a goal last time playing the Wild in their building, part of that hot streak he started the 08-09 season on.

I think he gets another one tonight.

If Enroth plays well, we have a good chance to win this game. Golden opportunity right here.

Would never have predicted you predicting a loss Ron

Enroth gets his 4th win with his 4th shootout of the year. Sabres 3-2.

Stafford and Gerbe score for the Sabres.

If Bäckström plays on Wild goal and Sabres can't make any PP effort its a loss Do someone know Sabres back to back games-record on this season?

Seems exactly the type of game to exactly the type of team we usually lose (to). This is a huge game™.

No Stone Grier or Anne Hecht seems almost like addition by subtraction. I'm not sure why Mancari is up instead of Adam but he can't be worst than Grier. Maybe M&M will realize he actually needs to start using his body to make the NHL.

BTW...we are already in 7th, based on percentage. The way standings are calculated are idiotic in the NHL. You may not win every game in hand but you are unlikely to lose them all either. A win today and a Rangers' loss and that is a serious cushion we are building.

If he's not on the point on the PP, I'm throwing everything I know about hockey out the window.

I think beating Philly qualifies more as a world shocking than beating Minnesota would be. None the less BEAT MINNESOTA!!!!

You are right in one point, we are unlikely to lose all our games in hand

but

You are hugely wrong on another point. We can not count points not yet earned. The whole point of standings is what would happen if the season ended right now and if it ended up right now we'd be in 9th and nothing can change that. % points or no % points if it ended right now we'd be watching the post season.
