RDS Montreal interested in Nidermayer

Sorry no link. I was watching RDS (French version of TSN) and they were talking about how Scott was going to test the free market and that he did not want to be making less money than he was supposed to get. This means he is looking between 6 million and the maximum.
Following that they mentioned that Montreal was interested in his services. Considering they mentioned the dollar amount it sounds like Montreal would be willing to pay the max for his services...interesting!
RDS Also interviewed Patrice Brisebois and for those of you who think he might re-sign with Montreal (because he could if he wanted to) it is not going to happen. He talked about how the last few years he wasnt happy playing in Montreal...the team was either losing or he was getting blamed. It was mentioned that Brisebois is looking to be part of a contender. He only had good things to say about the Canadiens organization.
Also of note Gainey will meet with Theodore's agent next week for negotiations.

According to my sources, he's ready to accept less to play in Montreal 'cause he just loves the french wine and absolutely the most beautiful girls on the planet!

I heard he's signing with Toronto for 4 million over 3 years.

Sorry, I just had to. Every team will be interested in Scott Niedermayer.

I don't think Montreal is very high on Niedermayer's list.

I was at a Flames game a number of years ago, and during the pre-game, they showed some player stats. Beside Niedermayer's name was an MTL, and so I thought maybe he had been traded earlier that day. I was so friggin' happy until I found out it was a typo. I think that's the closest you will see Niedermayer in a Habs uniform. I can only dream that Gainey pulls off such a coup signing, but he's taking his Norris act elsewhere.

It's on the RDS website, but it says nothing about him or the Habs being interested in each other.

Here is a French to English translation:

Niedermayer on the market?

July 26 2005 - (RDS) - THE AGENT of the veteran defenceman Scott Niedermayer does not expect that his client will sign a new contract with the Devils before the end of the week. Niedermayer signed for four millions dollars in 2003-04. Last summer, a salary of seven million was awarded for the season 2004-05, but he did not touch this money because of the lock-out. His agent Kevin Epp expects that Niedermayer will receive offers to the salary maximum of 7.8 million and he does not think that his client will return to the Devils for a lesser amount. Monday, Niedermayer participated in the show Off the Record on the network TSN. On the show, he said he expected to join the UFA market with other players, that opens August 1st. "I'm open to the idea. I will take my time and make a decision next week", declared Niedermeyer. Niedermayer added that his family's addvice could weigh in his final decision. Without wanting to enter into the details, he admitted that Vancouver was an appealing destination, being that his wife and he are from western Canada.

Bob Gainey will invite Scott to dinner, and then use the horrible "Bob Gainey Sour Stare of Death(TM)" until Scott agrees to terms.

Just thought I would throw this in here:

According to his agent, Niedermeyer is interested in the Pens.

Not saying he's going to Pittsburgh for sure....just wanted to pass on info.
