My crazy idea for Miller

Miller is 30 and is under contract until 2015?
Enroth is 22.

In my crazy idea I would bring up Enroth to play under Miller and learn the NHL for 1 year and split the games so that Enroth plays atleast 30 games.

Then I'd package miller in a deal out west for a #1 center and make Enroth #1.

The Sabres would have to make damn sure that Enroth is for real. If he's anything short of amazing then I say no. Or unless Miller falls apart.

Ruff: Hey Ryan, you got a second?

Miller: Yeah, Lindy, what's up?

Ruff: Well you see, we want you to train your replacement, so we can ship you out.

Miller: Cool idea, bro. Die in a fire.

Ruff: OK, just checking.

Also - shipping out extra centers? Where the hell did we get extra centers from? Are we kidnapping Flyers?

I like Enroth's game but it's a little early to be trading Miller. I wouldn't mind Miller's workload dropping to 55 games or so, 60 at most. He's better rested. And if Enroth got hot, he could play a few in a row. A little competition is always good.

Definitely NOT a good idea.

I know 2 young men who went to high school with him and played hockey with him... Off the ice... We don't want Kane. On the ice.... Would be nice.

you my friend, are correct.

Miller for.... getzlaf?

Obviously this isnt really happening. Although i do want Enroth up in Buffalo as the official #2 backup next year. Give him 20 games hypothetically.

It's pretty much true for all NHL goalies except Brodeur. You don't win Stanley Cups by riding your goalie into the ground.

Even Brodeur has visibly broken down in the playoffs post-lockout.

Enroth is clutch. But hopefully the kid can get a regulation win before the year is over. He should be a solid backup next year though, but that's all he is at this point. It's possible our goalie situation next year will be close to Vancouver's in Luongo and Schnieder, which should help us incredibly in the standings as we wont have to ride Miller for 20+ games in a row.

And then again .... With Ruff's history ... No matter how good Enroth looks when he does play next year, he may only get 12-15 games. If Ruff can fight the urge, no matter what, Enroth or any backup should play 18-25 games, but, well, that's not Ruff's MO.

Ruff's MO is to win games. If he doesn't have a reliable backup goalie whom he trusts, he won't use him. It's that simple.

If next year Enroth can secure the backup position by playing like he did tonight, I think 18-20 games is very doable.

miller wont be traded midway through this contract. it would be very bad PR by management.

If Enroth proves himself, I think Ruff would HAVE to give him games to showcase him and I think Enroth would the big key piece to bring in another big name player.

Roy gets hurt and team does well? TRADE ROY.

Miller gets a rest and Enroth gets a win? TRADE MILLER.

Seriously, enough with the knee jerking.

Too early. I would like to see Enroth get 20+ games next season, though.

In 06-07, Biron played 19 games and that was before he was shipped out at the deadline.

Maybe Enroth gets a few regulation wins and a couple of shut outs before Miller is sent packing.

Thread title is true.

Yea, 18-25 games would be ideal. It is just so hard to believe Ruff in his 13 yrs. of head coaching, he NEVER had a good enough back up to play 18-25 games, unless he was forced to due to injury. I find it hard to think he would change, but maybe he will.

Ruff likes to ride a hot hand. Lalime doesn't know hot. Biron got back to back plenty of times when he shared with Miller -- although part of it was injury.
It's fun to create a what if topic but the idea of trading Miller is a non-starter. Enroth has way more to prove.
