Tidbit on Sekera

Rej has been on a tear as of late. Named the NHL 2nd star of the week. One of only 3 defensemen in the past 16 years to register at least 2 points in 5 straight games! (Mike Green, Lindstrom). I guess Lindy should sit him.

You should be praising Ruff for getting it out of him.

Sekera has Keith Yandle syndrome. That guy was already scary good last year and nobody was talking about him. Same with Sekera, 10p in 5 games and the only thread about him on the main board has 8 replies. And most of them from Sabres or Slovak fans.

Tbh, I was fearing a repeat from last year, where he got benched and lost his whole confidence. Glad he matured mentally and that I was so wrong.

This was asked in the gameday thread or GBU thread, but I cant remember which so I'll put it here. He's also the second Sabres defensemen to ever get 2 pts in 5 straight games. I would have guessed Housley, but it was actually John Van Boxmeer in 1981

Why exactly does everyone bash Lindy around here? Every loss he gets the blame and gets absolutely no credit for any win. He helped turn the Sabres around and hes part of the reason the Sabres are where they are now. Sekera played like ****, so he sat. It woke him up and now hes playing great. Good coaching move.

Frankly, I'm surprised Sabres fans haven't gotten their Buffalo Fan on and started *****ing that this hot streak is going to make his price go up this summer. CONTRACT YEAR!!!!

Well we can't blame Darcy for everything now can we?

Bad factchecking on some writer's part...Sheldon Souray did this also in the 06-07 season. That, in addition to Mike Green in 08-09 and Nik Lidstrom in (at least) 99-00.

It's like the Sabres are living in the Bizarro-Jerry world. This season has been full of unexpected surprises and events happening the opposite of what the majority of us expected - who could have ever predicted back in September that:

- Miller and Myers suffer slumps after breakout seasons.

- Stafford and Sekera experience resurgences after being all but written off by everyone.

- A billionaire willing to spend to win buys the team from a billionaire willing only to break even.

- Roy suffers a season-ending injury while injury-prone Connolly is on track to play his second consecutive season of 65+ games.

- Niedermeyer, with only 1 goal, has scored more this season than Tim Kennedy.

Yeah that was me suggesting it could be a Sabre record.
Only name we could come up with was Housley.

Thats difficult for a defensemen to pull off. Here's to hoping 12 points in 6 games

He had a pretty decent point shot, was a good skater, but not as fluid as Sekera. I think Reed Larson also wore #5 - he had a much heavier shot than Van Boxmeer.

Sekera was once OHL defenseman of the year. It's good to see him play a handful of games recently wher he is living up to his potential.

Rej had a bit on NHL on the Fly tonight -- when asked what he is doing now that he didn't prior, he mentioned simplifying his game: move his feet and move the puck to the forwards. It was worth a chuckle.

Isn't that what Lindy says about 90% of his slumping players? Simplify their game?

Reggie's issues were always of the mental capacity, nothing to do with talent or skill. I'm glad to see he recognizes the importance of simplifying his game because for a defenseman that's the most important thing to figure out.

Sekera is sort of like the new Kalinin.
