This was expected though. No team will claim him because the NHL rosters are locked and everyone needed to have the AHL rosters locked last night. Basically if he got claimed, he wouldnt be able to play for the rest of the season.

Buffalo should claim him, and use him in the Sabretooth costume during games.

That would complete the ****ing Tim Kennedy got this season.

j/k TK. Pulling for you in FL.

Someone could claim him and play him in the NHL but he would not be eligible to play in the NHL playoffs, so a non playoff team that is short on bodies might claim him. ex/ Ottawa

I dont believe thats correct as I think the rule says that a team cant add anyone from outside their organization after the trade deadline.

I spoke to Tim's agent at length about this situation. Basically, it went down like this...

- Buffalo wanted to pay him ~$800K, Tim wanted $1 million and had some comparables to back him up

- Went to arbitration because Buffalo wouldn't budge an inch.

- Got $900,000 or whatever it was. Tim signs the contract.

- "Half-hour later I heard that Tim was on waivers" Bought out.

- Almost ten teams inquired about him, got a one-way deal from the Rangers. Got sent down.

- Wanted to be called up, but Sather wouldn't put him on re-entry waivers. No team would trade for him because he'd require re-entry with them too. So he sat in the minors and here we are.

Strange situation indeed, but I'm glad for Tim that he's gonna get his shot.

Is he FA this year? St. Louis is having a lot of injury trouble (again). I wouldn't be surprised to see him claimed.
When our bottom six has one NHLer in it, I wouldn't be surprised.

As a Bluenote Zone Writer, you should know that any player claimed on waivers at this point is ineligible to play for the rest of the season.

Just playoffs, or the whole season? If it's just POs, then I could see Ottawa claiming him, we need to send some of the Bingo boys back down so they can try to get into the playoffs.

Problem with that story is that it wasn't half an hour after the arbitration confirmation/deal that the waiver and buyout happened....

Ottawa should claim him for the rest of the season.

We need some warm bodies to send the Bingo players down for the playoff run.

They talked about it on the deadline show, if another team claims him, he can't play in the NHL (and now the AHL) for the rest of the season. He can only play for the Panthers this season.

If the Sensa claimed him, he wouldnt be able to play. They simply own his RFA rights for the offseason.

...and that Kennedy was awarded $1M, not $900K.
