Chara and Gill as a PK pairing would be amusing to watch that's for sure.

Sounds Fun! Assuming you mean for now and the future...

Atlanta- Evander Kane
Anaheim- Koivu! (or any of there top three. But seriously, he'd be an upgrade over Gomez and fits into the team concept of little men with big hearts.)
Boston- Chara, or Rask if I wanted to take someone out of spite.
Buffalo- Meyers or Ennis.
Calgary- Tough call, Iginla for now, Bourque for the future.
Carolina- Staal, no question.
Chicago- Keith or Toews, can't go wrong there.
Colorado- O'Byrne because he knows our system real good. Duchene is a distance second...
Columbus- Nash.
Dallas- Benn.
Detroit- Datsyuk.
Edmonton- Hall.
Florida- Ellerby.
Los Angeles- Penner for Tinordi and a 1st. Either that or Doughty.
Montreal- Good Health.
Minnesota- Cal Clutterbuck tops this whole list in my opinion.
Nashville- Weber
New Jersey- Volchenkov. Gorges/Volchenkov= Quiet night for Price.
NY Islanders- Tavares.
NY Rangers- Staal. I'd also take there coach, it would add a little spice to the media releases from Gauthier.
Ottawa- Karlsson?
Philadelphia- Giroux.
Phoenix- Yandle.
Pittsburgh- Crosby but would take Staal or Letang with a smile on my face.
San Jose- Setagouchi despite the off year.
St.Louis- Either Stewart or Pietrangelo. I'd let the Blues choose.
Tampa Bay- Stamkos.
Toronto- No one, I'd give them Gomez.
Vancouver- Burrows.
Washington- Carlsson or Alzner. Maybe Ovechkin, I guess.

I still think it's early for those two to get the franchise tag myself, they're showing a lot at their age, but I'm waiting longer.

Keeping the above in mind:

Anaheim: Visnovsky (maybe unattainable to trade for, but little else other than Anaheim's top 4 fwds are intriguing)

Atlanta: Thorburn (Ladd is certainly most enticing, along with Enstrom, but that's unrealistic. Instead, a big, gritty fourth liner in Thorburn, not an awful skater, drives the net, mean streak, fighter, plays the PK)

Boston: Marchand or Seidenberg (always liked Seidenberg: mobile, some size, fearless, consummate professional, all-around solid D; Marchand's got speed, he's a pain to play against, and plays to win)

Buffalo: Gaustad (always been a fan. Can skate, big size, has some offensive skill, good grinder and solid defensively, some mean streak. Plays like Holik-lite.)

Calgary: Backlund (admittedly, there's little in Calgary that's desirable, so I had to turn to the rookies. Backlund's an intriguing prospect, and I'm worried that Calgary's not handling him all that well. I think he'd thrive in a puck possession Montreal system.)

Carolina: Tim Gleason (Ruutu and Sutter would be my first choices, but they're part of the Carolina core moving forward. Gleason may be as well, but I suspect he'd be more easily attainable than the aforementioned. Gleason's a big body, reasonably mobile, solid first pass, physical, mean, and a nice fit regardless of the system. Unheralded #3 defenseman.)

Chicago: Hjalmarsson or Kopecky. (Hjalmarsson's a shot-blocker, size, mobility, first pass, zero offense. Real solid second pair defenseman. Kopecky's a perfect third-liner: big, great speed, hits a lot, excellent forechecker, offensive skill, can plug a hole on a scoring line or play on an energy line, tireless worker, sound defensively.)

Colorado: McClement. (Not a whole lot that's desirable here that'd be available. McClement's a good professional, shut-down centerman, sound fundamentals.)

Columbus: Hejda. (sound fundamental, safe defensive defenseman who can make a first pass and block shots.)

Dallas: Benn. (Unlikely to be available, but I like him a great deal more than Neal, and it wouldn't surprise me if Dallas dealt Neal because they knew Benn more than compensated for the loss in big forwards. Good talent combined with size and skating, with some mean streak and fighting abilities.)

Detroit: Helm, but he wouldn't be available. He's an identity-making player,. In other words, he'd help the team--and his line specifically--create an identity; that of a hard-working club. He's a great forechecker, top-5 skater in the league, tenacious penalty killer, and excellent along the boards. Meet: Kris Draper, version 2 (upgraded)

Edmonton: Penner. Oh, woops. Vandermeer? Solid tough guy, #6 defenseman, keeps the game simple and easy, otherwise a solid policeman. Not a fan of his skating or skill game, though.

Florida: nothing.

LA: Handzus. Big body, controls the boards, dominant defensively.

Minnesota: Latendresse.

Nashville: Kevin Klein. PKing great second pair.

NJ: Clarkson. Solid third-line winger, capable of notching 10-15 goals a year, can fight, can play a power game.

NYI: Matt Martin. Big, mean, good fighter, some skill, very young; I'm a big fan.

NYR: Prust. Not big, but a good skater, tenacious forechecker, solid fundamentals, good pugilist, has some offense to his game. All-around, a really nice third-liner to have.

Ottawa: Neil. Because there's not a whole lot else there.

Philly: Coburn. Mobile big D. Has regressed of late. Would give him a shot to put it together in Mtl.

Phoenix: Hanzal. Not at all attainable, but entirely desirable. Precisely what Montreal lacks right now.

Pittsburgh: Kunitz. Rugged, slightly dirty, battle-tested, secondary scoring.

San Jose: Doug Murray. A beast. Joe Pavelski, consummate professional with an amazing wrister, capable of more than he's shown to date.

St.Louis: Crombeen. One of the best middle-weights out there. Some offensive skill and solid fundamentals too. Also a fan of Sobotka's.

Tampa: Bergenheim. Speed to burn with fearlessness and some moderate offensive upside. Good fundamentals and typical Finnish work ethic.

Toronto: nothing.

Vancouver: Samuelsson. Really, such a fan. He's another system-maker to me. Big, solid speed, great on the PP, and someone who can propel the puck possession system. I really think Detroit made a mistake in letting him walk.

Washington: Fehr. Natural goal scorer, needs a change of scenery. Though, if I'm being honest, I'd pursue Perreault. He's just a ball of energy out there, and I think he's got some untapped offensive upside.

Two posts+two twin towers+Carey Price in the middle?

I don't see how a team can score on that.

Interesting thread (Boston fan, coming in peace).

If I were a Habs fan, I think I'd pick Chara. I think Boston fans tend to take him for granted (in a way, like Bourque). Only after he's gone will we truly realize how dominant he is.

From Habs, I would want:

Price (we don't need three goalies, but he's such an asset I'd want to grab him and then trade him or another goalie asset for another really strong position player).

Subban (to me he seems like the real deal and will only get better)

Pacioretty (not seen enough to really know what's there, but he sure seems to have the spark and a nose for the net -- he certainly likes to score against us).

Mmm can we pick 1 guy in each team to build around : Pacioretty/Plekanec/Gionta _____________________ Deharnais as second center . Pk Subban Markov Gorges Gill in def core and Price as Goalie. So the team would look like : Pacioretty/Plekanec/Gionta 1er trio Giroux/Deharnais/Kane 2e trio Benn/Clowe/Kopecky 3e trio Thoburn/Konopka/Neil 4e trio on def : Chara / Subban ; Markov / Hedja ; Gill / Gorges goalie : Price / Ramo

I think a better question would be which UFA's from each team would help us the most?

Boston- Campbell

Teammates can do whatever they want and not have to worry about being disciplined by the league.
