Big win against another playoff contender. I really can't complain about a bad third period because that was the 5th game in 7 days all against playoff teams. In addition, Keith hardly played in the third period. Any news on Keith?

Toronto a playoff team? Lol. They were on a nice run, but they do this every year. Be bad for most of the season then get the fans all excited by going on a good run in March/April, repeat the following year.
They played themselves out of a top 5 pick in 08-09 because they had a good March/April.
I don't know if it showed through on the TV last night, but Leddy was awesome. Maybe a bit of a mistake on the 1st goal (although Kane put him in a bad spot), but I don't know how many odd-man rushes he got his stick in the way of.

Very true and easy to forget what a grinding schedule we just went through. And to win them all was way more than I expected.
2009-10 Kris Versteeg: 79 GP, 20-24-44
2010-11 Jack Skille & Michael Frolik: 61 GP, 9-12-21
This is a pretty good summary, although I think comparing Eager with Pisani and Burish with Johnson is a bit out of line. Sure, point wise they are similar but it was the stuff that doesn't getting on the sheet, their toughness and the physicality they brought that helped in wearing teams down and usually lead to dominate Hawk 3rds. But it's just a points comparison, so what can you do?
Comparing the backups, who cares really? I think Frolik easily could match Versteeg given the full year here.

Agreed. You're comparing two 4th line grinders to PK specialists.

I couldn't disagree more. He was the one Blackhawk who truly had an awful night.
Disagree on the Leddy ---ESPECIALLY in first period. Leddy had an outstanding first period....one that truly showed how this kid could become a REALLY solid D-man because he has some fantastic instincts. He did however, as the game wore on, make a couple of REALLY bad mistakes but if that is your focus than you miss the point. AND PLEASE PLEASE note also that - as the game wore on our superstar veterans made some really bad mistakes as well. They were clearly tired and trying to get out of there with two...which they did.

The point of it was that so many people (other teams) said they would lose and be a joke because they had no scoring depth and the top two lines could be stopped. Their scoring is basically even: 3.309 a game last season, 3.303 this season -- less than one total goal over 82 games. The difference is the backup goalie and the PK -- that's it. They're giving up almost a quarter of a goal per game more this season.
The team hitting is up (four more per game on average) despite losing the grinders.
Skille/Frolik haven't replaced Versteeg, but Toews and Bolland (among others) are scoring more and have made up the difference.

I agree PK is part of it but our defense was the main issue...and note I am not saying just our defenders although they are part of it. We play well when we control the neutral zone and our forwards back check hard. We are young and fast enough to play that well for 60 minutes...we just chose not to in many games early on and in some parts of games today.
We have more than enough offense on this team. It just that we made (and still make often in parts of games last night) too many mistakes along the blue line and don't go aggressively after the puck a times.
Well that might have been the best NHL game I've ever been to.(been to probably 20 in total). 3rd time seeing the hawks and the first time they won. I was blown away with how many Hawk fans were at the game. I'd say 25% of the crowd were hawks fans. It was really awesome.
