I've been to Tony Lukes. It's not amazing, but it's better than most.

The cheesesteaks at Wells Fargo Center are pretty good. I think they are from Campo's Deli.

Tony Luke's is awesome. I think Pat's has better bread than Tony Luke's, but overall, Tony Luke's cheesesteak is better.

Tony Lukes is probably the best your gonna get at the stadium. Campos makes an amazing Italian hoagie though.

Seconded.

I wouldn't advise getting a cheesesteak from WFC if you're looking for that authentic Philly cheesesteak. Nearest spot for a great one is Tony Luke's; and Pat's and Geno's aren't far from the complex. Pat's is my personal favorite.

They're only open until 3pm, but if you get into the city early enough, go here....

There's a couple of good places up near me in Manayunk/Roxborough. Fiesta Pizza, Delasandros and Barrys are all fantastic.

Mama's off belmonte Ave is good. Mainly just because of their sheer size, they are like 2lbs and have 6 pieces of cheese.

The absolute BEST steak in the city. Hands down.
A close 2nd for me would have to be CHINK's on Torresdale Ave in the Tacony Section.
Its only a 10 minutes drive down 95 from the 'Farg and is open until 8 or 9.

Pat's cheesesteak with their cheese fries and wash it down with a cold birch beer.

Done, done, and done.

Your explanation of how Pat's cooks their gristlesteaks is almost right on the money, but you need to change that to overdone, overdone and overdone.

There's a reason why Pat's is at their busiest when the bars are closed, people are so drunk that they've lost their sense of taste.

Between a lackluster sandwich and horrible parking, Pat's is the last place I would go to after a game.

I used to live there for years..and Delasandro's was always my favorite.

Fiesta, for me, wouldn't rank up there, but my first girlfriend used to work there when I was a teen back in the late 80s and it brings back good memories

Barry's is pretty good, but of course he used to work for Delasandro's until he left and opened up his own place, so unless he's changed, their sandwiches are/were similar. Good stuff.

There was a place on belmont ave, shortly over green lane bridge called mamma's. Their steaks were PACKED and they used a 3 cheese combo from Wisconsin. I used to really like that place. But overall? Delasandro's. Okay now I'm hungry.

Peace!

Nowhere near the WFC but worth mentioning nonetheless is Gaetano's in Willingboro. IMO, they blow all the Philly joints out of the water.

you two have it correct.

That place does it right, haven't found a cheesesteak anywhere even in Philly itself than can top it.

Pat's and Geno's are for tourists and drunks its overcooked horse meat and cheesewhiz

On the topics of cheesesteaks, what is the best you have had outside of the Philly area? A place called Aleco's in Harrisburg on 2nd street is the best I have ever had, maybe even better than anywhere in Philly. The Chicken or the Egg on Long Beach Island also makes a mean steak.

Voltacos in Ocean City are amazing, but its not a cheesesteak in the traditional sense.

/Thread is a hard statement to make hailing from that place they call "New" Jersey there chief.... its like saying you have found the best pizza in Rome while being a resident of Lazio...

I was really disappointed in the sandwich I got from Campo's at the stadium. It was no better than the mediocre sandwiches I've gotten in Jersey.

For a real cheesesteak you have to go to:

John's Roast Pork (my personal favorite)
Chink's
Delasandro's (my favorite before I had one from John's)
Steve's

Can't go wrong with any of those places. Of course theres some random pizza places or sandwich shops across the city that have awesome steaks as well, but of the "big name" places these are the best, in my opinion.

Pat's, Tony Luke's, Geno's, are all better than sandwiches you're gonna have from other places across the country but they aren't on the same level as the places I listed above. Jim's is also pretty good. I prefer them to Pat's or Geno's.

Edit: I haven't had many cheesesteaks from other parts of the country, so that would be mostly speculation on my part.
