Doughty had a horrible game tonight..it happens. He will learn from his mistakes, bounce back and dominate down the stretch..bank it.
Bernier was not to blame for the Loss but he didn't do much to prevent it. Quick should get the next start IMO. (And I have been a bigger Bernier supporter overall)
The PP is just pathetic..but these guys are too talented not to turn it around (even with this horrible system).
What's the point of playing Quick 70 something games?
Clearly you misread what I wrote.
Play Bernier vs Vancouver. It would have continued the Win and You're In mantra. At the least you'd have Quick ready for an important 4-pt division matchup.
I said this before the Vancouver game so it's not exactly sour grapes.
Isn't he third in the NHL with PP assists? Hard to get them when he's stuck with the second unit right now. Martinez and Johnson should be option #1 right now. Doughty and Stoll aren't getting it done.
It's so frustrating and I can't take another year out of the playoffs.
Jack was at his best when Doughty was out. Maybe Johnson should be on the #1 PP unit and Doughty...
Bernier was not great but let's be honest here we lost this game because of the PP, #94 and #8.
Clifford needs to move up to the 2nd line for good. Look at what he does on his first shift with that line. Old man Smyth wouldn't have even been across the blueline yet to recieve that pass. Smyth needs to play 4th line minutes at ES and the PP.
What is the point of playing the backup in a Division game? And playing the starter in a non-division game down the stretch?
I admire your passion but, I think you need to step away from this. Quick wouldn't have made a difference and you're doing nothing more than making yourself look like a mindless Quick fanboy.
Years ago and I mean years ago after a Kings game I walked out to my car and put my fist through the windshield. My wife wouldn't talk to me for two days.
It wasn't the Kings fault that I was so immature that I couldn't control myself emotions well enough to not destroy my own property.
It did feel awesome to put my fist through my windshield though. Worst thing about it, I had a friend on the team who to this day hasn't let me forget it.
The "re-inactments" have been pretty darn funny and typically very shameful.
Kings still need to win 10 games with only 16 left.
Huge loss tonight. Where was the team from the first period in the last two periods? What the **** does Murray do after the first period that kills this team?

No way. I love him but he looked way too overmatched for third line play before this game, now we ask this kid to contribute in a second line role? Now? He might be playing too many minutes in that third line role at this moment. Either Smyth should start doing his job or you stick Brown or Poni up there. Not the kid. He had a great game but let's not overreact.
I'm embarrassed by how kings fans treat Bernier. If Quick were in the net, the votes of no confidence would be excuses. You can't fault Bernier on any of the goals. Don't show your lack of knowledge by trying to. You're just embarrassing yourself.
lack of knowledge?
As a goaltender your taught to always keep your stick on the ice no matter what. If Bernier performed his fundamentals as everyone claims hes so great at then he woudl have stopped that breakaway by Benn that slid right through the gapping hole between his legs.
Watching Smyth is like watching old Shaq walk up the basketball court and the rest of his teammates have to slow their dribble to wait for Shaq to get under the basket. Naturally Shaq provides very little defense anymore. Good for set plays and not much else.

Ah yes, high and mighty. You should probably knock yourself down a peg or two.
They're not passing the puck well at all. Highlighted by whatever Doughty was doing. Systems don't matter when you can't make a pass.
The Kings aren't the quickest team, and it's doubled by the cute passes, the little flip passes, the weak passes, the turnovers in their own zone, and at the blue line, and at the red line. The Kings have to pass well.

you know its a bad night when comparisons between Smyth and Shaq are drawn

I agree completely with you.
Clifford is going to be an exceptional player for us for a long time. The best way to handle him is to keep him playing in a position where he can excel and giving him a shot here and there at where you want him to end up so that he knows what it will take to get there.
The worst thing we can do is rush him or any other kid into situations that could damage their long term game.
I also agree that we aren't getting anywhere near enough for our touted vets. When Smyth got his 20th I thought that he might slow down, so far it looks like he has.
Actually I think the road trip will do them quite a bit of good. Too much pressure to perform well at home and the same bad habits were rearing their head tonight that popped up during that 2-6 homestand.
The point tonight was huge. Two obviously would have been better, but one is better than none.
They need to win at least two of these next four. 5 points or more would be great.

It was a valid question and since no one has an answer for it, well...

Lately he has been having pp trouble but he is better than Doughty. The whole pp setup is screwing up the guys.
Willie Mitchell should get a shot at the powerplay. He has a great shot.
Since everybody has already covered the negatives . . .
Clifford was a beast, I'm so excited about this kids future . . it's official, I'm getting his jersey. I love what this kid brings to the team . . the only bright spot of the night.
Also, Poni is overpaid, . . but at least the guy is consistent in hitting, finishing his hits and getting involved. Hope he takes a discount and resigns.
