Fine with me. I don't see a problem with our college scouting.

that second goal looked sick - but his head will get taken off pulling that stuff in the pros.

im fine with these moves, if we cant draft, might as well sign college free agents that mightve been late bloomers.

As far as i see it. No Risk, High reward. It's not like we can lose anything by signing up these guys. Hell they might even turn out to be NHL pro's one day.

I like that it's a 1 year deal too. Homer appears to realize that with the recent lack of draft picks it's critical that he enters the NCAA ranks. However, we also have the 50 contract limit. So he can't go signing every NCAA guy to a multi-year deal or else he will eventually run out of contracts and not be able to look at NCAA prospects any more.

This way, if Z-whatever busts, he can just opt not to re-sign him, and he can sign next year's equivalent of Z-whatever.

I think you're wrong. Testwuide signed a 2 year deal. Gilroy also signed a long term deal with the Rangers.

has to do with their age

Age Length of ELC
18-21 3 years
22-23 2 years

Perhaps it is dependent on his age when the contract starts?

I thought of that but he's reporting immediately right? And he doesn't turn 24 until September. And if you go by CBA rules, it's typically the age of the person on June 30th of the year the contract takes place (this was the Pronger mixup). So even on that date, he is still 23.

his is signed for 2011/2012, this season he willl be playing as amateur tryout

Zolnierczyk’s contract is for the 2011-12 season. Terms of the deal were not disclosed. He will play out the rest of this season on an amateur tryout agreement.

Depends if Gilroy was on an ATO out of college, because it was already the end of the season. Gilroy was 25 as a pro rookie last season. He had also graduated, if that is a different rule.

The point still remains. June 30th of the season in which the contract takes effect....he is 23.

Ah wait! Just perused the CBA. The June 30th date is for the 35+ contracts....

For Entry Level Players it is September 15th of the calendar year in which he signs the SPC. So that would be September 15th, 2011. Which just barely makes him 24 (his birthday is the September 1st).

Interesting.

http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/p...30&encode=TRUE

He was suspended his freshman year for the ongoing investigation, but then played 31 games in 08-09 and put up a whopping 2 points before averaging a point a game the next two years. I know there are adjustments and late bloomers, but that's ridiculous. Guess it was personal stress still.

I'd imagine my game might slip a little bit if I were in the middle of that scandal....
