Is this a serious thread? There have been a handful (and that's being generous) of times Richie has shot the puck before he has passed it on a 2on1.

i don't mind richie taking the shot on a 2 on 1 when the lane isn't open. what bothers me is how often he shoots high and wide. keep it low and go for the rebound.

Richards shoots too much and Giroux passes too much. I guess some people like to just complain about anything

Richards should shoot the puck, shooting the puck opens up the pass as much as trying to pass opens up the shot. Giroux should take some lessons. What Richards should focus on not doing is the stooopid cross-ice pass, he gets picked off too much especially on the PP.

Only if it creates and odd-man rush towards Boosh/Bobs.

Exactly why I made this thread. People need to forget about the fact that he's captain and actually focus on what he's doing

Lol. You believe that Richards misses the net allot?

Seriously, we have'nt had a defenseman hit the net with a shot for about 20 games(outside of OT )

Here's the thing. My favorite player is Giroux and I can admit that he doesn't shoot enough but you guys can't admit that Richards shoots too much?

What happens if he starts passing instead of shooting, and those passes are broken up? Do we start a thread about how he needs to shoot more?

Oh god you are right! Why hasn't anyone noticed this before?

Richards certainly should have his 'C' striped because he isnt passing enough on the 2-1 when he has a sure shot and not a sure pass.

Read that over and tell me it doesnt sound RIDICULOUS

Duh! Of course we do. And if he alternates pass/shoot, we start a thread about how inconsistent he is. Bloody moderators need things spoon-fed to them around here.

I must be the odd man out thinking he passes TOO much.

The guy can score. Sometimes he forces it to set up someone when he could just as easily shoot it and generate a rebound. And with Versteeg's recent goals this is LOL worthy.

On 2 on 1s is the only time he shows a little greed. Otherwise he is a saint of a captain making everyone else around him better and upping their production. I'm glad he does. Too much selflessness is a bad thing. Captain should have a little scoring swagger and take some shots.

I'm not saying that but ya know... way to just completely blow what I am saying way out of proportion. I'm just saying he needs to tweak his game a little bit. Just pass a little bit more

Most goalies cheat a lil on 2-1's. Maybe he is seeing a little more net to shoot at, and likes his chances of scoring better than his chances of completing a pass, the player getting a good shot on, and the goalie not making a save on a shot he is clearly already anticipating.

And I agree with tweaking his game a bit to get it on track etc, but then the post immediately following your first and then your second post question the legitimacy of his captaincy.

The two are completely unrelated.

This thread is pretty rediculous. Pretty much every goal that Versteeg has scored since being here, has been gift wrapped by Richards. And before the trade, I didn't blame him for not passing to Nodl considering his proven track record of sucking when it seems almost impossible not to score.
