From Alberni Valley Times September 17, 2007

"Counsel for Harrison (Harry) Zolnierczyk, 20, appeared in Port Alberni provincial court on Friday, to set bail conditions while awaiting an Oct. 11 arraignment date on charges including voyeurism (electronically recording and distributing video of a sexual act), plus production, possession and distribution of child pornography."

Glad he has now become some people's favorite prospect now.

Philly sports teams seem to love to sign guys with problems with the law, Vick last summer and now Zolnierczyk.

How old was he when his incident happened? Sometimes I think people are too quick to judge people. What if he was a senior in high school who turned 18 and his female classmate, who was also a senior, hadn't turned 18 yet? It's not the atrocity some people make it out to be, yet technically it's an adult and a minor.

I'm not condoning anything, just pointing out that the specifics really matter.

He was a dumb horny kid, being a dumb horny kid.

It happened in 2006 so he was either 18 or 19. His buddy who was 18 was streaming from his webcam some chick he was banging, who was 17, like the scene from American Pie.

She finds out, they get busted and are now labeled forever.

Any dude here who's pissed off about this, is a hypocrite. I'll bet there isn't anyone here that didn't see pictures or videos of their buddies girlfriends when they were in high school/college. It's part of being a dumb horny teenager.

Atrocity is a bit strong... as is people saying he is now their favorite prospect.

Shows a lot of bad judgement at the least on his part, makes you wonder about Brown - you'd think they looked into it before they gave him a scholarship. I will assume there is more to the story than we know as he did not go to jail and I will hope that there is a better explanation than what is currently out there.

Specifics matter but we don't have those so I am not going to post asking why the Flyers did this. Let's hope they did their homework.

I was a kid pre internet. The fact that the girl did not know is what makes it a crime. And yeah, it almost happens in American Pie. Movie - no real consequence. Real life? Different story for the girl.

I prefer to be a "dude" who thinks its wrong not a hypocrite.

No kidding it's wrong. You don't think of that when your a dumb kid. And don't give me the preinternet excuse. We didn't have webcams either, but there were plenty of polaroids.

He was dumb kid, he shouldn't be labeled for life.

Of course it's wrong, it's just that some people like to justify actions by saying they were young and stupid.

Those of you who saw porns of your buddies girlfriends must have been in a much "cooler" crowd then me. All I remember from being 17 is acne, saving for college and homework.

The people that are condemming it, are the people that didn't get any tail at highschool. Anyone but a future hockey star, and no-one cares.

Typical American media, filled with typical hypocrits.

That's just typical neanderthal garbage to say only a person who didn't get any action would condemn it. I think it is a horrible thing to do someone without their knowledge. It is extremely humiliating and emotionally scarring for a teenage girl to have to go through that. That said, while I think what he did was messed up, I do agree he shouldn't be labeled for life over it. People make mistakes and poor decisions especially when they are younger. People also can grow and learn from their mistakes. I can only assume that he has.

BTW I've also seen cases like this that involved ordinary teenagers in the media so it's not just because he is a hockey player.

Well, the whole thing happened in Canada, and the Port Alberni journal is in B.C. so it's not American media per se.

I think what he did was wrong, and he got punished for it. He got charged and discharged appropriately. His crime was looking at the video and sharing it with other people. t's not like he started a porn production company for underage girls, but he did watch video of a non-consenting person having sex, no matter what her age.

It was a stupid, wrong thing to do, I hope the girl who was traumatized has recovered and I hope Harry Z and his buddy learned a very valuable lesson.

It looks like he's stayed clean since.

Of course it's wrong, but I personally don't think it's fair that it's marked down forever as "child pornography" when it was a 1 or 2 year age difference

Ask the girl that was secretly taped and distributed if it's an atrocity. This guy is a piece of crap, and shouldn't be a part of the organization. He is a sexual predator, which henceforth will be his moniker.

You can never believe what is said though. Yeah she "didn't consent. I've heard this quite a few times, but only when the tape gets shown somewhere else.............

Look i'm not condoning it. Stupid thing to do, but lets not act like this doesn't happen in every single college everywhere. As i said, if this isn't a hockey player, do you care about it?

I imagine that if he wasn't a hockey player it might have gone worse for him at the time?

There are several people in the US who did the same thing, got convicted as a predator and now can't live within miles of a school, can't get a decent job, and so on. I hope this kid learned from his mistake and becomes an exemplary human being.

I doubt his standing as a non-professional hockey player affected the results of his trial.
