Just to let you guys know, as I'm sure you haven't seen allot of Oiler games, this team (Oilers) is not as bad as their position in the standings might imply. Super speedy, lots of youth, goaltending by Dubnyk getting better and better, and they haven't really quit even when losing. Lots of 1 goal games and OT losses. I think this is setting up to be a really good game. Philly should be pissed off after their last couple of losses.

Edmonton - Toronto - Atlanta - Florida - Atlanta. The winning streak starts here.

Don't let edmontons position fool you. They are very similar to the Islanders. You turn up and play anything less than 100% and they will turn you over. They have an incredibly young and skilled team.

Yes. The Flyers are 0-6-1 in the last decade vs them. The 1 is a tie btw.

Hello from another Flyers + Oilers fan. The Flyers never seem to match up well vs the Oilers speed even though the Flyers aren't a slow team. Will be an interesting game for sure. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Oil win, but have a good feeling for the Flyers.

Lavy essentially takes the blame for the teams woes the last couple games....

Quote:
"Flyers -- With a four-game losing streak and a minor flu bug going around the locker room, coach Peter Laviolette ordered his players to stay away from the rink Monday, with the hope that a full day off will be enough to recharge their batteries.

Laviolette said Monday that three days of grueling practices last week, followed by three games in four days -- all losses -- may have tired his team out.

"You need to look no further than me," he told reporters Monday. "I'm the guy that gives them the time off and the time on."

I foolishly read reader comments in a philly.com article yesterday where someone said something about Shelley being quoted talking about some "guys in the room" who are a problem. Did anyone hear anything credible about this, or am I completely blind and it's plastered all over this forum?

It apparently aired on WIP during the Rangers game and then they replayed it the next day. I didn't hear it myself but I've seen mention of it elsewhere. Someone did mention it here on the Rangers thread.

And there isn’t a problem in the locker room, as has been speculated. Jody Shelley did an interview on 610-WIP prior to Sunday’s game and some listeners have misconstrued that he said there are problems with teammates. The man who did that interview, Tim Saunders, said “Out of context you can take it to mean anything you want.” But in context, it was explained as a team-wide issue and what a Flyers spokesman termed a “non-issue.”

If guys are upset, that’s OK with Chris Pronger.

“I would hope everybody’s angry,” he said. “It’s never fun getting beat the way we did and the last stretch of games we’ve been on haven’t exactly been our best periods and our best games. We’ve got something to prove to ourselves that’s for sure.”

Why is it that every time the Flyers go on a losing streak these idiot writers always make up problems in the locker room? Do they not have anything better to do?

There were four references to it in the half-hour pre-game show on Edmonton radio, one saying it was "Flyers' fans...."
