I'd like to bring him over. Could be a useful agitator.

A JFJ draft pick, I don't see him as an NHLer.

It's actually a pretty ideal situation contractually. He is only eligible for a 1 year entry level contract. If he comes in, and makes the team, great. If not, he goes to the AHL or the two parties mutually agree to let him out of his contract so he can return to Europe.

Obviously, they would have to assess his ability to make an impact at the NHL level, but he is a bottom 6 player that can bring a lot to the table. The Leafs could certainly use an agitating player. Anything is an upgrade over Sjostrom.

If 24 is old, then we have one of the oldest teams in the league.

I think he is saying that he would rather sign Komarov over a pending UFA. Not saying Komarov is old...

that's how I took it.

Wouldn't mind giving the guy a chance. He's 24 and has a wicked shot. 3/4th line guy wouldn't be bad at all.

Bottom 6 would look like

Armstrong Hanson Komarov
Brown Brent Orr

Is he NHL ready? Or is he a Marcel Mueller type requiring years of seasoning?

Depends if Kadri/Colbourne are ready. If they are... I could see Colbourne being the centre of Army/Komarov, Bozak centreing Kadri and Kessel. Lupul replacing MacArthur if he isn't re-signed.

Mueller had a slow start and has 25 pts in 54 games. I think he could use some more seasoning until he gets a bit more consistent.

IMO lines look like this if we keep MacArthur

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
MacA - Grabo - Kulemin
Kadri - Colbourne - Armstrong (doesn't look TOO bad)
Brown - Hanson - Komarov
Orr

The guy who stands out most imo to be the one who gets cut looks like it could possibly be Bozak

Mueller
Caputi
Sjostrom
Brent
Boyce
Crabb

All look to be in the AHL next year. Especially with Caputi's hernia, he could use another year of AHL time.

Yeah he is ready. Two years ago at WC even team canada struggled with him. He is lock for WC teams for team finland and is close to be at world cup(hosted?) and olympics 2014. most who have seen him playing(mostly russian and finnish people) thinks he could play nearly every NHL-teams bottom 6. I'm just saying you guys got an gem in your system. Fan favourite everywhere he plays. He never gonna be point scorer for you but he plays with his heart and fights like warrior, has ruutu-like agitating ability, his speed is more than enough in NHL, shot is good NHL-level, hes one of the toughest/grittiest guys in europe and the most important attitude and team playing. Hes very funny guy aswell. He gave an interview before canada game at 2009wc's, reporter asked are you nervous playing against superstars of canada, He answered no i just played against them on ps3.

From what I have heard, he is ready. I don't think that Burke would bring him unless they thought he could crack the rosted immediately.

Wouldn't mind to see him brought over, even for a short stint. Should see what we have in this guy.

Komarov has taken huge steps in offensive game aswell. I believe this season was the first one with TOP6 minutes in the KHL and he was 2nd best in his team in the regular season and best scorer in the playoffs with 6gp 4g+2a. Now i dont know how that would trasfer to NHL but if he adapts to the style he could produce much more than "agitating" or skating.

Komarov was a bit of a rat in the 2006 WJC also.

Everyone knew Kulemin and Rask were going to be NHLers.

Gunarsson silently did his thing and kind of came out of no-where, and Frattin is a promising but still developing talent.

The former guys all have stand-out skills of their own.

Komarov just doesn't seem like an NHL player to me at all, and even if he made it to the AHL, I think that's his peak.

Who else do we have to choose from. What group of players do we have to pick from for roster spots? There must be more than just Komarov.
