So the team was allowed to stew after a major blowout to an inferior opponent and ... put up another one-period effort. Wow. Sure looks like they learned their lesson. This bodes very poorly for finishing as high up in the conference as possible and, more importantly, for competing in the playoffs.
It's almost textbook now: get a 2-3 goal lead on a team they should be blowing out and then just glide along until the end of the game. Yeah, a win is much better than the last 4 debacles, but they could just as easily have come out with a loss if a few of the Oilers' chances in the 2nd and 3rd had made their way through.

They have been doing this for a while, they aren't going to fix everything in the very next game. Give them a few games. And Pronger let it been known he was not happy when he was yelling at them before the reporters came in. They will fix it or else.

This is what is frustrating to hear. Yes, they have been doing this for awhile, but what is to get complacent about in this league? They are pretty much healthy, so what is the excuse? Give it a few games?
They have been playing like crap against crap teams, after this five game tilt they play the Pens twice, Dallas, Caps, and Bruins. Better get it straightened out pretty darn quick.

-The Pens who've been treading water without a whole bundle of stars
-The Stars who have been struggling as well, and are looking to right the ship with Richards returning
-The Caps playing defensive hockey and winning by 1 goal, or losing by several
-And the Bruins, who may be without Chara, and have also been inconsistent...beating the leagues best, then losing to the WB/S Pens and reeling Habs.
Sounds like a perfect time to turn things around and right our own ship. This team needs to be able to take advantage of other team's misfortunes and drive them into the ground.

Flyers have not been able to beat Sabres, Laffs, Canes, Sens, Skirts, and an OT win over the Isles.....not exactly a bunch of teams who are tops in the NHL. Even last night, if they play like that against a team like the Pens it is a 5-1 Pens win.
That's what I mean though...these teams are great teams that are vulnerable right now. Regardless of how we've played the last couple weeks, this is an opportunity to get back on the track we need to be on.
