L-Train, or whomever takes over the list, just a heads up. I changed my team name last year to the Victorville Reapers. Not a big deal so I didn't mention it before.

Also, why are you not posting here anymore?

L. Welch came second in a bunch of categories though, so close to the Bennings 2 years in a row.
How do you know he came in 2nd in a bunch of categories? Is there are place for voting or do you just mean the categories that are purely based on stats?

My goalie was second in all categories and I had the 2nd least goals allowed, all to the same goalie and team who took the trophy.

So it's a reasonable guess that L. Welch was 2nd in the running for the Bennings.

FWIW, the "most valuable" categories are based on rating, so they're trackable as well.

Just wanted to say congrats to Irish.

Looking forward to this season.

My budget space in about 3.5 million and I could probably trim a lot of fat off of that.

Going to be fun to be in on the FA game from the get go this time and not have to put up with the ******** that was this season where 80% of the owners had an unfair advantage over the rest of us when it came to signing FA.

Thanks!

WTF is this RFA ****? My top winger is on the FA list? No way. I want to convert his contract before his salary gets out of hand.

I gained $3 mill in capspace with my cup victory, so I won't actually have to make any cuts, which is awesome, granted I can convert some contracts for reasonable prices.

So the budget has been updated, but we have to wait for our FAs wages to finalize? Also, have our regular players' salaries updated?

hm FA's who went a full season on the list have now retired. i think FA is gonna be much slimmer this year if this is how it stays, especially after the first couple of weeks when even more players retire having been cut during the early FA rush last season. kind of ruined my gimmick team plans heh

It will be tough, it seems that most people have plenty of room since the majority of our players our FA's.

normalization of free agent contracts is now available however if i do that everyone of my freeagents are after big rises and therefore i wont be able to afford them as i only have 2-3 million of salary.

wanted to convert riggin and rakos to regular contracts but that means paying them 5mill+ each

http://trophyhockey.org/player.php?id=700727 rakos
http://trophyhockey.org/player.php?id=650056 riggin

of course the advantage is that they would be tradeable but i wouldnt wanna trade them anyway so prob better to just keep them on their original cheaper free agent contract for another season.

i guess you lot will have the same problem as most of us built our teams through freeagency last season.

i think some of the rises are ridiculous and shows how good a deal i got on my free agents last season

Yeah...I only had one defenseman whose contract I normalized. I overpaid for him by quite a bit last season (I'd lost three previous bidding wars and decided I wasn't going to make it four), and so normalizing him actually brought his wages down. The rest were all pretty big hikes, and I'd rather use my cap space to get another FA down the road.

Just curious, how many free agents do you have on your current roster? I have 10 if I include the normalized defenseman.

I was a run-of-the-mill 3.1 team during this past season. While reviewing my current roster and the free agent options available to me, as in who I can afford, it looks like this upcoming season may be much of the same. In fact, I think I will use season 9 as a rebuilding season as much as TH really allows for one to do so.

And, speaking of which, I really wish the draft was more influential; at least the first round should provide a player with practical potential.

Tank and go #1 overall and you might get a decent first round pick... AKA a third liner. By the way, dude, check your TH inbox...

I'd actually prefer TH having an issue over the other place. TH filled maybe 15 minutes of my work day, but a full day of work with no forums from the other place really wrecked my day.

Just in case the other place doesn't come back up, I'm just throwing this out there, I have 7 million in cap space and I haven't even dropped my goalie that I just replaced so I have a total of potentially $9.5 million and I will be blowing my load on a top free agent. No offense to anyone, I'm not trying to "steal" anyones players(I've never outbid anyone here) but with so few elite players left, I'm making sure one of them is mine.
