What is your ideal draft?

Assuming that we have the following picks. And try to be realistic with which players can be expected around each pick.

2nd
14th
32nd
55th

Here's mine, but keep in mind that I am no expert when it comes to prospects...

2nd: Ryan Nugent-Hopkins
14th: Mika Zibanejad
32nd: Shane Prince
55th: Max Friberg

2. Ryan Nugent
14. Mika Zibanejad
32. Oscar Klefbom
55. Magnus Hellberg

OK, so really, I want Landeskog with the first one, but couldn't take 4 Swedes, even though they'll probably be the best choices in my mind.

Weird, exactly my opinion... (If we couldn't move up with our 2nd, I would hope for Jurco, granted we land Huberdeau)

Essentially I would like to Draft a complete forward line:

Landeskog-Huberdeau-Jensen/Jurco Would be my optimal choice.

2nd Strome
14th Bartschi
32nd Puempel
55th Samu Perhonen

Puempel might not fall that low, but it's possible as ISS and NHLSS have him very late 20's and he's got an injury issue that might take him down a spot or two.

Ott 1 - Larsson->RNH->Lando->Couts->Strome in that order
NSH 1 - Bartschi -> Zibanejad -> Jensen
Ott 2 - Prince, Victor Rask, Amroz (likely gone). If Dman Musil is there, we should take him. Big guy and could be developed into a very solid 4/5/6 dman.
Chi/Cgy 2nd - go for a goalie, unless you only like one of gibson/gibson/perhonen and they're gone. Personal preference for me goes to the finn.
Bos 2nd - no names, just take a gamble on a high upside forward here.
Ott 3rd - same as above.

2nd: RNH
14th: Zibanejad
32nd: Jensen (even if we have to trade up). No trade: Jurco

don't care about the rest if we get those 3.

2nd Landeskog/RNH
14th Zibanejad/Jensen/Matt Puempel
32nd Phillips/Jenner/Prince/Catenacci
CHI Quine/Rakell
BOS Binnington/Goodrow
62nd Brassard/Rieder

Tough call still though, too much depth in the first 3 rounds!

3 months of trumpeting Landeskog and you go with Strome?

He's off the bandwagon after a couple bad games and Senschirp's post.

A winger and a centre in the 1st round, and one of our 2nds to draft a goalie.

Except I was hyping Strome long before Landeskog...and I've said before that I can't decide between the two? I still think that Landeskog and Strome are the top two players coming out of this draft.

I think we draft 3 in the end.

3. I'll actually be happy with any of the top 4. Larsson's the best but he'll probably be gone by 3. Can't decide which forward I like best. I think we end up with Landeskog or Couturier, I'm happy either way.

12. Oleksiak. D If a guy is that big, and skates that well, I don't see how he doesn't become dominant defensively at some point. Would even out, and cement our future top 4. Cowen-Rundblad Oleksiak-Karlsson. Keying on a great top line and closing out games with Cowen - Okeksiak would give opponents nightmares!

Anyone else think Oleksiak could be huge for us?

And drafting C and D gives great structure to the team in the future. We would have cemented our 1 and 2 centres, and top 4 D, hopefully. It's far easier to get wingers. I wonder if we would use Landeskog at centre at times?

Wow. What a reach!

On the other hand, a Cowen-Oleksiak pairing would be monstrous.

I also doubt we end up with the second pick. I'd be happy with any of the top 4 guys, I think if we drop out of the top 2 RNH and Larsson are gone. Without trades i'd be looking at :

2-3 : Landeskog
14 : Zibanejad
32: Ambroz/Grimaldi/Puempel (aka this is the pick where we go for the guy that falls and swing for the fences)
55: Musil

I would be thrilled with this haul.

Future "all goes well" D of

Cowen - Karlsson
Oleksiak - Rundblad
Wiercioch - Gryba/Lee
