Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden: Game #69 @ Anaheim Ducks

Player of the Game & The Good, The Bad, The Redden

The RulesWhat is the poll for?

You are voting for the player of the game - the one who put forth the most effort, who put the team on his shoulders, who contributed the most.

Do not vote for the player who had the best statistical game just because he had the best statistical game.

This does not mean you should not vote for the player of who had the best statistical game, but do not vote for him just because of that fact.

Who can I vote for?

You may vote for any player who dressed for the game and played at least one shift. If the player you want to vote for is not included in the poll, select "Other" and indicate in your post who you wish to vote for. In the case that I egregiously miss the player who everyone wants to vote for in the poll, I will count the votes in the thread.

What is this "The Good, The Bad, The Redden" nonsense?

It is my twist on the title of the famous spaghetti western movie, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.

Since multiple players may have outstanding games and you can only vote for one player in the poll, this affords you the opportunity to recognize multiple players, or a facet of the team, for their commendable play ("The Good"). This also affords you the opportunity to rip players, or a facet of the team, for their particularly substandard play ("The Bad"). Finally, just as "The Player of the Game" affords you the opportunity to recognize the best, this affords you the opportunity to commend the crème de la crème of the worst, who delivered an atrocious performance, or whose singular (or multiple) bad plays directly led to the the detriment of the team ("The Redden").

POGT: No one
Good: McD, Dubi, Zuccs
Bad: Staal, 3 goals of of Rangers players, missing open nets
Girardi: Redden. Wait, might have gotten that backwards. No, wait, I didn't.

POTG: I finally lost rookie status, and with my first vote ever I give it to Dubinsky. Despite his miss, he was the only Ranger who showed up.

The Good: Spongebob Squarepants
The Bad: The Ducks jerseys.
The Redden: The offense. We gave up alot tonight but it took 3 lucky bounces and the best line in hockey to do it. I could get 18 guys off the street that could put more than 2 on Dan Ellis. Offense couldn't even keep us in the game against a zombified defense and a 9th sting goalie. Pathetic.

POTG: Anyone who stayed up to watch that crap.

What a let down after the Flyer game. I still can't comprehend how a team gets 3 goals off opposing players in one period.

Just a bad night.

Have to say losing like that doesn't nearly hurt as much as losing by a goal every night. They came out strong one flukey goal and it was over. Thought they all looked bad.

Redden: Girardi and Staal combo

Nice of Gaborik to show up, lets see what happens against the Sharks.

I'm beginning to think the playoffs are more than likely not happening this year.

We're gonna be mediocre for a long time.

Too bad we can't do the same thing that Lubo does. Fire slappers from the slot.

POTG: Zucc
The Good: Stepan, Sauer, McD, Gilroy
The Bad: Prospal, Boyle, Prust, Girardi, The Refs
The Redden: Missing open Nets and Hank getting outplayed by Dan Ellis.

Hank is too deep and doesn't react well to changes in direction. His puck handling skills are a major problem and Ellis showed that you can stop pucks that if they went in wouldn't have been your fault. I take offers in the offseason and move that salary. He's an average goalie. I know it hurts, but it's true.

Not sure how those two statements are related. On the first one, yes, there's a good chance we don't make it. It was no more than a 50/50 shot that we were going to before the season started. On the second one, I disagree. This team is headed in the right direction and I am expecting to make the playoffs next year.

I would put EC and Emingers as POTG candidates over Staal and Girardi. My God, were they brutal. They were horrible in all 3 zones. Girardi has had a lackluster 2nd half of the season after a good start. Staal has had some uncharacteristically bad games this season, the Devils and Canes games come to mind.

Too many mistakes tonight. Anisimov putting his stick out to deflect the 3rd goal and his stupid penalty. Boyle's horrendous turnover on the final goal. Prust's line was really bad tonight, getting pinned in their own zone the whole night.

Just an ugly loss. The Rangers looked like they wanted no part of the Ducks tonight. Even though Dubinsky couldn't score in the 3rd, he put forth a good effort and was one of the few players who seemed like he actually cared.

POTG: Dubinsky really did put out a good effort. He sure does have bad luck but I can't fault his effort

The Good: not a lot to report on. Henrik was okay.

The Bad: the team really didn't get it together. For those who say it was a good effort, I vehemently disagree.
And Gaborik. The team might be better off without him, but hard to tell tonight since the team was beige.

The Redden: that would be the incredibly bad game that Dan Girardi had. I was spellbound by how bad he played tonight. I like Dan and want him to wait another...oh....10 years or so before having another game like this.
My very first Redden award. I feel so empty.

We have an anemic offense and a defense that the Mighty Ducks from the first movie could score on. If Hank was an average goalie we'd have like 30 points.

I doubt that. If we miss playoffs this season it wont be by much. We are on the right track. Unless Slats decides to part with young nucleus then we can only go up.

Typical rangers after a great win against philly they follow it up with a crappy loss.

The Good- I thought Dubi was our best player tonight.
The Bad- We miss two open nets.
The Redden- Staal & Girardi were awful. Too many deflections go in against Hank.

Missing the playoffs would not be the worst thing. They aren't going anywhere anyway, and those of you with season tickets wont see a price increase. With the rise of the Knicks now, Dolan doesn't give a crap about the hockey team anyway. Take another year or 2, add a few key pieces, get another good draft pick and we'll contend in a couple years........maybe even next year.

It's been extraordinary watching/reading your hatred against Henrik. Who do you suggest plays goal for us, you?
