Fill in the Blank, Doobie Style!

Every day or every other day, I'm going to post one of my NHL2K5 and story profiles for one of my hockey players I created and you tell me where you think he was drafted and the next day I'll tell you where he was actually drafted and why he was drafted at that position.

Okay first one, is going to be difficult...

Name : Joral Xir Zadani
Height : 6'5"
Weight : 230 lbs
Age : 18
Hand : Left
Position : Right Wing

Scout's Notebook : Most scouts that have watched Joral this year have been split down the middle on where his career will end up next. He has the size, tools, and the potential to be a NHL player for years but his over aggressiveness, slow skating speed, and lack of quickness, has really turned off a lot of scouts. Had a very disappointing Prospect Game and didn't even make the WJC team. Should be interesting to see where he will be picked. Ranked 54th Overall in the CSS.

Positives : The one thing Joral has is size. He is already a giant among men out on the ice. Scouts are drooling over his potential size. Father was almost 7'0" and his mother was 6'3". Could fill out around 6'9"-6'10". Is extremely difficult to move once planted in front of the net. Has soft enough hands to bang in loose pucks but also to shovel pass to a defenseman. Isn't fast but gets where he needs to go. Easily shuts down opposing players. Mucks it out along the boards and corners and usually wins the battles down low. Could potentially end up as a defenseman because of his size and his aggressiveness. Is very aggressive in protecting teammates. Is a character forward but will never be a leader.

Negative : Joral has probably one of the strangest skating styles in the minors. He wobbles when he is standing up straight and sways when he is trying to move quickly down the boards. Has problems sometimes seeing open forwards and defensemen. Vision is okay but could be problematic in the NHL. Tends to pick fights and penalties at the wrong time. Has already gotten suspensions in high school for attacking random mascots and trainers. Not a lot of offense in the past few years even though he has a wicked slapshot and is hard to move from the net.

Last Notes : Given his potential size and simply his potential, Joral should be at least an early second day pick if not a late first day pick. Injuries haven't been a problem but scouts have wondered about his top heavy body and his back. Probably will fill out and become either a top 6 pairing defenseman or a third-line center.

Expected Pick : Early Fourth Round/Late Third Round
---

So where do you think a guy like him wound up? And what was his career?

I'm guessing you created the profile. I'm guessing Zoral Xir Zadani goes in the 5th round because teams were afraid to pick a middle-eastern. In the NHL, he was a probably a dissapointment and played on the fourth line.

Someone took a chance. He went 87th overall, but never played an NHL game.

I think somebody went right off the board in the late 1st- early 2nd round. Gotta love somebody that big with soft hands and ability to play both D and Forward. Kinda like Burns, only bigger

I always play 2K5 with a locked position (LD), and I absolutely LOVE those big physical D's like Chara or Fischer. I know I would've taken this guy in the 2nd

i think he was taken 143rd overall and ended up being a steady 2nd liner and powerplay specialist(once he could get to the net with the power of steroids!).i figure a shorter career than most sooooooo..............retired at the age of33 after breaking into the league at the age of 26 (a late bloomer due to size issues).was a great person in the community and later (12 years after retirement) was arrested for impaired driving in florida.

Closest?

Taken 194th Overall (6th Round)

Reason:
His inability to find a suitable position, made him drop like a rock. His speed was abysmal and his size was overrated. His lack of offense was showing.

Turned Out:
Top 6 winger, pushing 7'0". Developed his skating and his hands to become a premier power forward. Limited due to back problems. Retired at 26 after multiple surgeries trying to repair his back and after having a steel rod implaced...He retired a year later after battling from infections.
